again what's wrong...

I just received my shutter plug in remote release (CS-310) shipped in a RICHO box for my KF. I set the mode dial to the icon for remote cable shutter release (page 40 in manual 4th item down in setting the drive mode, first Icon, ). It plugged in as if they were made for each other...oh boy! Well not so I tried using the mode dial at every setting and nothing happened???

Help, Tom W

Hi Tom,

Only the use of the infrared remote is described in the manual.

As far as I know, for using the wired remote you have, you don't need to set up anything, just plug it in well. Press it and make sure is sitting properly.

Half pressing the remote button should activate AF and a full press take a shot. Check if you are in a mode that does work with the normal button on the camera. If that works, the remote release should work too, it's a duplicate.

The manual is sadly missing this information it seems. There is only some vague information under "Using a Microphone or Cable Release", because the cable release and the external microphone share the same plug in K-70, KF and KP.

I hope this helps. Enjoy your KF!

It is the correct cable for the camera. Just set up the camera as if taking a picture with the shutter button but just press the remote control button 1/2 or all the way.

By "manual" I assume that you are talking about the "Start Guide" and not the "Operating Manual" - I looked at both.  Different things on different pages.

The "Remote Control" selection in the Drive Mode is for the wireless remote control ot the wired control.  Do NOT select this option, just use whichever shooting mode you would normally use.
