Hot shoe cover R6

Is there an official hot shoe cover for the original R6?

Or do you know a cover that fits? Or does it use the same one as the R5 or R3?

There is no Canon hot shoe cover on the R5 or R6. If you want one for some reason, Amazon or other such places sell different ones which ought to fit.

Thanks.

I was in heavy rain yesterday and it got really wet. I want to prevent damage of the hotshoe in the future.

When I bought them a few years ago, there were vendors offering 10 or 20 packs for single digit dollar prices, so I got a 10 pack. That was a good decision, since they do get lost from time to time

I bought the Nikon BS-3 hot shoe cover for my R5.

I think it cover the hot shoe very well.

The R5 has no cover. The hotshoe should be water resistant to a point (the R5 is not certified IP53 water resistant like an OM-1 for example). I’ve used my R5 in heavy rain, no problem, but I put a cover over it between shots, and dry regularly with a microfibre towel. I would not use a hotshoe cover because rain water would just get under it and then stay there until I took it off - I’d rather dry with a cloth, that way I can see how wet it is and deal with it.

But if you insist, JJC make some nice covers that fit.

If your camera is on a tripod, a shower cap from your hotel makes an excellent rain cover!

None of the hot shoe covers that I have seen are watertight. So if you put a cover on the hot shoe which has gaps so water can get in, once it stops raining the rain will be trapped between the cover and the hot shoe. I think you would be better off letting the hot shoe get wet and then drying it quickly once it does.
