** Weekly X-Series Photo-Sharing Thread 19 MAR – 25 MAR **

*Please reply to the original post but change the title to reflect the subject of your image(s) so that your post starts a new section. Also helpful to some of us who are less traveled to talk about the location of your photo if possible

*If you can provide details on the subject, camera, settings and processing, that would be great for people reviewing the images. *If you have more than 10+ images to share, please break them up into more than 1 posting.

Thanks for all participation whether seasoned pro or beginner…

And a last reminder...... your Fuji X cam photos are not limited to only the ones you took in the previous week. We like to see them whenever they were taken!

Only Sunny Day in a Long While = Colorful Blooms!!
10

Hello everyone,

In SoCal we just had one complete sunny day. In what now used to be a drought-laden region, cloudy rainy days have been the norm. The clouds will form tonight into Thursday and rain will again begin to fall.

But, for one day the poppies were out but I couldn’t get to the fields. However, the ground cover opened to the sun just today with their bright purple leaves. The yellow flowers appear to be African Violets. At the end of the week we will have more blooms and for those members who live in California we are going to have one heckuva wildflower season!

BTW I downloaded DXO Pure RAW3 to try it out.  It may churn out a little more resolution but for my workflow I will "stay the course."  That notwithstanding I will test it with high ISO images in the near future.

Nothing special except vivid colors.

Ground cover is very common in this area and blooms for about 3+ weeks a year at this time.

Gorgeous, Bob!  A very pleasant reminder of the early wildflower bloom that we enjoyed when we got together a few years back.

Fun with a 40-year old adapted lens
16

These are a few shots I pulled from the archive to share. The macro shots were done with an adapted 50mm Olympus lens from the late 70's and the 11mm Fujifilm extension tube.

IIRC it was enabled for the photos I posted (definitely on for the BIF) but I did turn it off at times.

More pictures from Iceland
19

Nice color Bob! I was reading some opinions that the Superbloom may not happen this year in spite of all the water that came down lately. The seeds may be washed out and there is not enough warm days for sprouting...we shall see...

Meanwhile a few more pictures from my Iceland visit:

A canyon near Dettifoss

Iceland is home to one of the largest colonies of Atlantic Puffin in the world. They are sometimes called “clown birds of the sea” due to their colorful beaks and their peculiar manner

Puffins usually mate for life and a couple can stay together for over 20 years. After the female lays an egg, both partners take turns keeping that egg warm. The same goes for the parental duties after the little Pufflings hatch

Eystrahorn - a mountain range in the eastern part of the island

On a windless day there is always a good reflection of Vestrahorn Mountain

Vestrahorn Mountain is best viewed from Stokksnes sand dunes. These sandy tussocks are formed by the very strong winds that are often felt at Stokksnes

Thanks for looking.

Vivid, now that's an understatement.  There should have been a warning to put on sunglasses :-}

Lovely Bob

Are these naturally occurring wild flowers? Colors are quite vivid.

Here's a sample of what we get in spring in piedmont North Carolina.

Re: A few dunlin

Morris,

Also like the left then right orientation of the birds' flight of the two photos.

Here's one I got of some buffleheads in flight last winter on the NC coast. Still working on my bird photography and need to pick up a super telephoto and a better tripod head if I'm going to get more serious.
