Don’t tell anyone about EOS M

The M system is amazing: cameras and lenses are small, light weight, good quality, inexpensive. I don’t believe there is any other system that continues to provide all of those characteristics. Canon is abandoning the system, and other important players such as Sigma have also left the building.

Please don’t sing the praises of this system any longer. We need to be able to buy cheap, hardly used bodies and lenses for years to come, and I’ll be happy if GAS-powered folks ditch their mint M gear for the latest R, Sony or Fuji attractions, so I can save money on backup bodies and lenses if necessary to keep my system functioning. Thanks in advance.

If only Chris Nichols had shut up about the M6ii being a great used camera to buy.

Darn.  Not 5 minutes before you posted this, I advertised and posted a link for a Zoom conference in order to tout the marvel of the Canon M-system.  12 people already signed up.  Should I cancel?

No, don’t cancel, but make sure you tell them the M system is hopelessly outdated, cameras do not work with the RF 1200mm, M200 is hard to hold with the EF 200-400 f4, can’t keep up with dragonflies in flight unless they are R2D2, and that focus bracketing does not work with flash. Hopeless.

I wish I had known how bad the situation was! I just put an order in for a M6 MKII (my second M body) and another lens. Oh well - I guess I’ll be stuck with it for the next 5 years 🤫

And better buy your spare batteries while they're on sale ($59), before those R shooters get them all.

m4/3? Just because Olympus and Panasonic have gone off the deep end with their latest releases doesn’t mean the affordable, small and good don’t exist.
