I found this peacock butterfly in the garage today, when I almost stepped on it. Its almost black with its wings closed. i assume it had been hibernating and started to wake up

I took one pic on the garage floor and brought it inside for a few more

Only when i was looking later on the monitor did I realise how detailed its wings are. I wish I'd been able to use a tripod, but it started moving around too much

All with a 20mm tube, plus some also with the raynox 250

Very detailed shots! My favorite is #2 - not only for the detail, but also for the composition. Like it very much.

Thanks for sharing!

They look like alien life forms this way, don't they? I'm used to it, but find it always fascinating nonetheless. Macro photography sure opens our eyes to strange worlds!

The detail is fantastic.  I like being able to see the hair on the eyes.

Thanks, and yes who knew that was there, usually when they’re flitting around it’s the colours that get noticed. It was the scales on the wings that got me
