Video of the R7 Auto Level Horizon feature in action.

Here is a quick video I made of the R7 Auto Level Horizon feature in action. You can see on the screen recording of the live view, how the image pivots when I tilt the camera left and right.  Also I have recorded video of the sensor itself, and how the IBIS system allows the sensor to physically move around, which enables the Auto Level Horizon feature to work.

I hope this feature eventually comes to the full frame cameras.

Thanks! I find this feature quite useful, even though it does not work in EFCS mode.

I was a bit surprised/disappointed that it is absent on the R6 mark II

Thanks Brook. It's really interesting to see in action. It looks like it has a rate of change of angle which is constant and it takes just a little time to act

The motion of the sensor/ibis platform is nice to see.

Thanks for doing that.

When I rented an R7, I bound the auto-level toggle to the M.fn. button. That allowed me to tap the M.fn button, see the horizon correct itself, take a picture, tap M.fn again to get back to my preferred mode (and crooked horizons).

It's a bit clunky, but for me it lowered the bar for using it a lot.

Thanks for the post. Very helpful. Auto-level is one of the most under-appreciated features of the R7. It may be a while before it's replicated on FF bodies due to physical space constraints. And a PS to Canon: where are the wide RF-S lenses where auto-level will prove most useful?

Yes, I also have a button assigned to it, although I tend to use electronic shutter by default, so I usually have auto level enabled
