RF 24-70 F2, which filters and ECFS
Hi folks.
I can't find the thread but we have been talking about ECFS instead of mechanical. Possibly it was in the R7 camera shake.
Anyway I had said I use M mostly but sometimes ES. I also said the noise of ECFS wasn't as substantial as M (R5 body) and that I would try for a week to see if I could get used to the difference. I was taking some shots of the inside of a defence facility today as part of a proposal and I realised afterwards that I hadn't missed the old M noise.
Maybe it was you R2 who asked me to report back I forget.
Also, we ordered the 24-70 lens after input from yourselves and some careful thought about how we can make projects pay for this lens. We bought it new at a price that appears under second hand prices in the UK. Well it was shipped quickly but 5 days late it arrived. For those not in the UK we had some deep snow and very cold weather which caused many disruptions including our lens.
Well it's quite big isn't it? Not so heavy thought so that's a pleasant surprise.
We haven't another lens in our past which has an effective aperture of less than F2.8. If I'm taking family snaps do I need to take note at F2? I'm thinking of the lack of IS, shallow DoF and chances to have less in focus than an f2.8?
What neutral density filters are recommended?
Sadly I won't get to use it until my return from a trip but thanks to those that contributed to help form out conclusions.
If a new R5 is launched we certainly cannot justify buying that until probably next year but hopefully that gives me chance to learn how to get the most out of this lens.
As an aside would any of you have experience with cameras that have been modified to enable, or improve the ability to take UV images? We use an A7R3 which doesn't belong to us but would be interested in something from Canon
