My vote would be for the 10 24. It’s just so versatile. It’s a lot heavier than I’d like, but around a city or when there are lots of people about, I find the need for different focal lengths at short notice are met more effectively with this than swapping primes and missing a shot.

My travel trio of lenses are that, the 18 55 and 50 230. I can capture just about anything I need to with those.

There is a saying that if your UWA pictures suck, you are not close enough.

I think that is true, because the examples you showed did not do the drama trick to me. It looked more like 'I want to include the whole temple indide my frame from where Iam standing now'. The images can use a bit of keystoning too.

Even though I am not an UWA shooter myself (I have the 14 as my widest lens), I do think your images could see improvement by going even wider (e.g. 8 mm), and/or stepping in closer, singling out one detail to exaggerate it even further. The latter you can even do with your current 14mm.

I think this will unclutter your photos and make stronger compositions. I mean this as some genuine feedback to help you.

What are your thoughts?

I would add that with an UWA you need to be careful about vertical lines. Converging verticals can be used to good effect, but often simply become an unfortunate distraction.

As an aside, you may notice that several of the pictures I posted on this thread are square. There is a reason for this: the shots were taken in portrait orientation, and then cropped square so as to remove the bottom third.

This allows you to shoot a horizontal view to keep the verticals parallel, but to dispose of the foreground that is often hard to fill with an UWA (which I believe is part of the reason a lot of people angle the camera upwards). The one image where I have left the foreground in is the one where it is itself highly geometric in sympathy with the main subject.

This way of shooting does demand a slightly wider lens than you might otherwise use, however, so don’t fear going wider than you might think you want.

Looks like you should wait for the Fuji 8mm f/3.5.

yES. Just worried that 8mm may be very wide which i can't handle. But yes there couldn't be much different between 12mm and 13.5mm (full frame equivalence.)

(Unless you think 10mm would be wide enough, then the Fuji 10-24 might still work and give you some versatility)

Not much in to that lens. Not just just because it's look large but I will be any way using it on 10mm. So why buy a zoom. Second it's f/4. It has OIS but i might take photos with things moving such as people or moving plant foliage's / stems.

Looks like 8mm or bust!

: )

You can always crop a bit too.

I'm the last person that should be posting on this discussion thread.  24mm-e is as wide as I ever go, and even then only when traveling and using my 16-80.

Best of luck!
