Manual focus box with triangles on the R7

Hi, I'm shooting macro with the Canon R7 using a Laowa manual-only lens.

I can get focus peaking to work. But I can't see the focus point box with the triangles get closer as focus improves.

Thanks

I don't have an R7, but on the EOS R you have to turn Focus Guide on in the AF menu.  I did a Google search and it seems that the setting on the R7 is AF menu, 5th tab.  I hope this helps you.

The triangles only work if the camera detects a lens, the Laowa lenses are missing the electrical contacts needed for that. You can get a 3rd party glue-on chip for that:

You are correct!  I had completely forgotten about that.  I used to use an fd mount adapter on my EOS R and knew this.....jeez...I am getting old I guess.

Any recommendations on these AF glue on chips? I have an RF Laowa macro lens and focus peaking is hard to see and willing to give these chips a try.

I have the ‘Dandelion’ version, I bought it on Ebay from Andrey. He programmed the right focal length and aperture before shipping.

Shipping took a while, Andrey lives in Ukraine, which, as he put it ‘has some delays in postal services’.

Thanks, had a chat with Andrey and unfortunately  this chip is only for EF lens, so can't use on my lens that already has RF mount.

I've tried a C/Y-EF  adapter with a build in chip + EF-RF adapter, but it didn't work on my R.  It would have been nice to get eye recognition with the Contax/Zeiss 85mm f/1.4.....
