If you need or want a camera now either buy the R5 or the R6ii depending on your budget. You might be waiting awhile for the R5ii. I’m sure you will be happy with either one.

You might want to focus less on camera models and their numbers but more on what you actually need and expect from it.

The R5 is an utterly brilliant camera. Sure, it has a few minor issues (only 20fps in e-shutter, banding *can* appear in e-shutter, tracking only possible in "full-area" mode,...). But they are not "universal", so likely not all will even bother you.

Really, either rent one or do more research and evaluate if this is even an issue for your photography.

Currently, as an R5 owner, I cannot imagine what Canon could add to an R5II that makes me want to spend 1000-2000 bucks for a switch..

If you always need the latest and greatest, then the answer is simple: Buy an R5/3 now and resell it when you ordered the R5II..
