Missed it by that much…

I bought the Tamron 150-500 on February 25th.  On March 6th it went on sale for $200 off. Great lens.  My timing not so much.

I feel your pain. That's why I tend to buy from gray market where they sale the lens at actual value, not jacked up price.

For example, the 50-140 is always around $1,050 - $1,100 in the gray market:
https://www.e-infin.com/ww/item/2413/fujifilm_fujinon_xf_50-140mm_f/2.8_r_lm_ois_wr_lens

whereas it fluctuates between $1,100 to $1,600 depending on sale windows:

Similarly, the current sale price for 150-500 is close to what the gray market has always been:

Yeah I know how you feel about the price drop but can you tell me if you like it? If I decide to move to fuji I'm thinking abuot this lens over the 150-600 fuji.

Can you share some example photos with the lens?

Have you tried contacting Tamron to see if they'll give you the discount since the timing is under two weeks? Usually companies have some kind of price protection policy.

These are straight out of the camera jpegs with no editing at all.  They are all hand held.  Not amazing shots but pretty sharp considering.  The lens is well built and I am happy with its performance.  A definite step up for me.

Based on some people behavior that is related to other such discounts, the deal is illegal and should be taken away from everyone.

I don’t know the law so I cannot comment on the legality of such deals.  From my experience, the retailer, whether online or a local store is just passing along the discount  found on the Manufacturer’s web site.  I did not see where you could buy the lens directly from Tamron so I am assuming you would have to go to a dealer to get the lens and if available, a sale price.

Agreed. Most stores would allow returning the item within a month, and would happily adjust the price if there's a price change within a month.

If the store is too strict, I'd just buy a new same item, and return it it right in front of them with the old receipt, they'd learn that they cannot prevent me from doing so while losing a customer.

WOW!  An update.  I called the retailer who sold me the lens.  They are giving me the discounted price and the lens now comes with a protector UV filter, so they are sending me the filter too..

Dealers can sell a product for whatever they want. They can lose money on every one if they choose.

What they usually cannot do is advertise in writing a price lower than a manufacturer allows based on the MAP (minimum advertised price) agreement in place between the manufacturer and the retailer.

Buying any camera or lens at msrp is not the ideal way to purchase. But this requires going into a store, calling a dealer, or using a 3rd party service like Greentoe.

Excellent, glad you pursued it. Good (and proper) customer service by the retailer as well 👍🏻
