Help me spend money (R5 video recording)

This isn't a very interesting thread and apologies for it.

I have some money to spend on accessories for talking head video making, I need advice. I can't aford BOTH an external monitor set-up and a good shotgun mic set up, and I'm torn between them. Or should I be thinking of something else entirely?

I'm recording on an R5, probably 35mm lens. Talking head video, a few feet from the camera. For audio I'm probably going to be using a DJI wireless mic with lav. I have ok lights.

I have around 1500 canadian to spend (around .75 cents US)

I coud get a NInja V, 2tb SSD, cables, cage, for around 1200 tax in leaving change for I dunno, a mic arm or somthing.

Or I could get a Rode NTG 5, Sound recorder, boom mic stand, leaving a few hundred for something else?

Or when doing talking head video (me in front of the camera, are there other things I should be getting which are more important than these?

Thanks for anyone who has any advice and apologies if this is the wrong forum.

As long as you have decent size memory cards, I’d get a non-recording monitor instead. You can pick up a good one for quite a bit less than the Ninja.

For audio look at the Audio Technical AT875R. Compares very well to much more expensive XLR shotgun mics (look at the YouTube reviews). If you  have a bit left over, get the Zoom F3 for recording your audio. It has 32-bit float, so you don’t need to worry about setting audio levels.

Just FYI, i have the Ninja and like it. However, I also have a 2nd monitor - I think Feelwell brand - that also works great… just doesn’t record and is WAY less than the cost of the Ninja.

I have a ntg 4+ and since i got the rode wireless mic i rarely use it, as the extra effort in setting it up doesn't feel like its worth the difference in quality gain for most talking head shots. I assume DJi would be same. For me it would better to invest in ninja v with longer non stop recording ability.
