Re: A Walk in the Park.

I just love that scene at Nene Park.  That Robin is...wow...you got a great one with the relatively small telephoto lens too.  It's nice to see the white tree blooms.  We are not anywhere near that where I live.  We just had a snow shower this morning, but it's not sticking.  The photo of the Grebe is outstanding.

Re: A Walk in the Park.

Hi Digirame, Thank You.

It was funny to see the Robin come closer to me, his head cocked on the side as my shutter clicked away, I sure wish other birds would be as inquisitive.  Unfortunately today we've had sleet then snow all day so no photos.
Hopefully I'll get out sometime this week. There appeared to be quiet a lot of bird/duck activity on the lake when doing my first walk and I saw a couple of photographers with long lenses where the Kingfishers hang out so that could be promising.

Re: A Walk in the Park.

Hi Dunlin, Thank You.

The temperatures have dropped even further today (Thursday) and we've had heavy snowfall around Peterborough, it's not been a day for long walks and photo opps. I'm afraid.

See What I Found
4

Yesterday we had some sun in the afternoon after it snowed in the morning.  So I decided to go out for a walk.  See what I found.  The first picture was straight out of the camera with no cropping.  The second picture is when I cropped it a little.  Later I tried to see if I could get a better picture by moving around, but the eagle then hid himself lower in some branches.  I think this eagle was looking for a duck or goose.  The geese were flying around as if they were scared of something.  I wasn't sure if the eagle was the reason.  Sometimes dogs will make them nervous too.

Thanks.  Actually...a confession...someone else pointed the eagle out to me first.

Thanks.  I'll keep looking for them.  They are slowly coming back to being seen more.

Re: Show Your Snaps...March 6, 2023

One of the reasons that I'd been saving up for an 18-135 mm lens was because of the crop factor of shooting videos in 4K.

The normal crop factor of my APS-C camera is 1.6. When you shoot in 4K, it adds another 1.6 crop factor on top of that. With a wider aperture, I can shoot at about 35mm or so.

It was a heavily overcast day, so I shot this in 4K in black and white. I think it's at 37mm.

My camera only shoots 4K at 24fps, and I used I used the manual mode at 1/60th shutter speed. I downsampled it to Full HD for easier uploading. (I'm not sure if DPReview allows 4K videos anyway).

I also was experimenting with partial metering.

A couple of stills (done in Av mode)

The long and winding road (partial metering)

That's great you have been enjoying the Canon 18-135mm lens.  Mine stays "glued" to one camera all of the time.

Your weather is dreary like where I live.  We had mostly cloudy weather yesterday.  Today it is rainy, so we are hiding indoors.

Tribute to the Founder of the Genetics Science

… Rev. Gregor Johann Mendel.

Erected last year in his honour on the occasion of the celebration of the 200th anniversary of his birth on the Mendel’s square in Brno, Czech rep.

That's hard to take a picture directly looking at the sun.  It looks good with all of the shadows too.
