Seems they are saying the rumor of R5 demise (or R5 II's rise) are greatly exaggerated

Well, as an R5 owner, while I don't necessarily expect any of these features to come to my camera, I sure wouldn't mind!

Sounding interesting - could it even be, at long last, the waiting is finally over?

(I'm guessing... 'No'. ).

I’d say the R3 is more in need of a proper pre-capture feature than any other R body!!

While they are at it, I’d like them to add the Spot metering function that all 1D series cameras have since we still are waiting for news of the R1, plus the ability to customise more buttons e.g. the Exposure Compensation button.

Great to have the R5 getting so many new features....

But does the existence of the R6 Mark II means that the R6 is getting the shaft?

Electronic shutter without the 0.5 second max limitation would be nice for night timelapses without shutter wear and also for focus stacking during blue hour or in the middle of the night when I tend to miss a spot manually etc.

Wow!

Having recently purchased an R5 and an RF100-500 primarily for doing high-bitrate wildlife videos, and at a staggering cost of twice the price of what I've ever spent on any camera package, I am thrilled at the possibility of this becoming a reality.

In the words of Paul McCartney of the Beatles... "Let It Be."

I wonder how close it’ll be to the R6 Mark II’s firmware.  The R6ii’s menu (firmware) is completely revamped (over the R6’s) from head to toe.

What I’d really love to see is any improvements to the subject detect library or AF selectivity and tracking in general.

You know, if we’re getting a major firmware upgrade for the R5 now, that really points to Canon speccing a substantial Hardware upgrade for the future R5ii in order to create enough separation (and desirability over) the revamped R5.  Good news all around!

As a Canon R5 owner, I'm excited about this possibility.

If true that solves a dilemma for me. I thought I was going to have to choose between the Olympus 150-400 1.25x (which I'm on the waiting list for), or an R5 Mark II - I can't justify both in one year. If I can have the 150-400, and see useful improvements in my existing R5 for no cost, I'll be a happy bunny.

I've been known to hold a black object in front of the lens while the camera settles - manual shutter.

How about the ability to turn on lens IS with body IS turned off? It seems it would be so simple to implement.

Or the opposite, turn lens IS off and keep only IBIS (ibis is 2 stops better at least than the VC in my tamron 35-150).
