** Weekly X-Series Photo-Sharing Thread 04 MAR – 11 MAR **

*Please reply to the original post but change the title to reflect the subject of your image(s) so that your post starts a new section. Also helpful to some of us who are less traveled to talk about the location of your photo if possible

*If you can provide details on the subject, camera, settings and processing, that would be great for people reviewing the images. *If you have more than 10+ images to share, please break them up into more than 1 posting.

Thanks for all participation whether seasoned pro or beginner…

And a last reminder...... your Fuji X cam photos are not limited to only the ones you took in the previous week. We like to see them whenever they were taken!

An owl from the archives
11

It's been a little while since I've ventured out with my friend who is one of the real experts in our area with respect to Owls. So for this week's thread, I thought I might share one of my favorite Barred Owl portraits taken a few years ago while we ventured out periodically in search of these amazing birds. This was taken with my first Fujifilm camera, an X-T1.

Enjoy!

Christmas in March????? Not the Snow and Cold...
6

Hello everyone,

Recovering from outpatient surgery I am staying home to recover. Didn’t know how I’d be feeling so I asked Jerry to begin the thread today and thank him for doing so. Feeling a little better…..So…. What can I do creatively confined to my home? In SoCal and the rest of the state we have had an extended winter. Evidently this was not lost on our Christmas Cactus which decided to bloom a second time!

Thought I would do something a bit different from the last cactus pic I posted (30mm focus stacking) last year and use the 100-400 on a tripod with a 10s delay. No problem with air movement and below is how it came out. For you Pixel Peepers the image posted is a FULL RESOLUTION crop. The H2 is capable of great imagery even with an ancient tele. AND for those with BIG MONITORS, let me know how it looks. (I do my processing on a 16” Macbook Pro.)

Beautiful flower and picture.  We have a couple of these plants and they have been a real joy.  Alas, they are past their prime at this point, so not much to photograph now.

We have 2 plants that are blooming.  The unopened flower to the upper right is still the same plant as the bloom.

Thank you!  Alas, I don’t speak “owlish,” but I’m guessing that it’s something along the lines of “that’s plenty close enough, pal.”

The rest of the story...

For those who remember Paul Harvey

These are some shots from the remainder of our recent trip through Washington and Oregon (started in the previous weekly thread). And a couple from today on the creek near home.

Snow on the beach was a bit unusual for Bandon, Oregon. We almost got stuck here because the mountain passes were closed.

Little bit of snow in the mountains of Cyprus
2

Continuing the topic of snow from the previous thread, here is just a little bit of snow that remained here in the Troodos mountains of Cyprus last weekend.

There was still more of it if you go higher and people with skis and snowboards were still enjoying the season.

Shot number 3 was made just down the road from the white van which is visible in the distance

And here is a shot from the same spot I found from the last year.

The Egret, eel, and heron

I took one of my grandsons to Myakka River State Park to see some wildlife, and we watched as a Great Egret caught an eel.
