R5 busy after take a photo

Hello,

I got my R5 a few weeks ago. I am using P or AV mode iso 100 to shoot random items and also the moon under road lights in the evening, it suddenly shows busy after every time I take a shot. Here is a video.

Is it long exposure or memory card problems? Thanks

Re: R5 busy after take a photo

Based on the video you provided, it appears that the "busy" message is being displayed on your Canon R5 camera after each shot. This message is typically an indication that the camera is processing the image and writing it to the memory card.

There could be several reasons why your camera is displaying the "busy" message after every shot, and it may not necessarily be related to long exposure or memory card problems.

I recommend trying the following steps to troubleshoot the issue:

  • Try shooting in different shooting modes (e.g., JPEG instead of RAW, different exposure times) and see if the "busy" message still appears.
  • Try using a different memory card with a higher speed rating.

I hope this helps, and happy shooting!

I would guess you have long exposure noise reduction ON.

This takes the same length of time as the original exposure to take a further exposure of total darkness to remove that randomlike noise away from your recorded image.

When you are taking a photo in broad daylight with shutter speeds in the 1/250 sec range do you have the same issue? If not, then the suggestions above are probably on the mark.

Sounds to me you have an option set to "on" which shouldne switched off. Probably in the menu tab 1 or 2 IDual Pixel RAW or Auto lighting optimizer of Highlight priority) or something which has an influence on "in camera" processing of the image.

Thanks, I have the dual pixel turned on, is that not suggested?

Re: R5 busy after take a photo

Try turning it off. See what happens

You do not need it.
