Finally, I have a 'bug shot' I'm happy with with my new camera. Really looking forward to warmer days with a lot more bug action

C&C always welcome.

Re: Photo stacked fly

Lookin good! Very fine detail.

Two recommendations: You could lift shadows a bit to bring out some more detail. Works as it is, but should be worth a try.

And if you stacked in camera: Stacking in an external program often gives even better result. Also worth a try IMO, especially for a nice picture like this one.

Thanks for sharing!

Thank you Phil I'll have a play with the shadows and see what happens. To be honest, I'm not sure if I'd ever get round to stacking in post - my main enjoyment is in hunting down the bugs and post processing feels like a chore (and takes too long when I've already spent hours identifying the bugs). But I'd never say never.

I can understand that! To get it right in camera saves a lot of extra work.

But since you said "I'd never say never": here some background info why I PP the better stacks I take with an external program: https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/4645671
