R7 new firmware 1.3.0
1

Canon has released firmware on their site. Version 1.3.0. It adds some flash compatibility and minor fixes.

Also, IBIS is *still* broken with dumb lenses. It remains hard coded at 50mm no matter what value to put in the menu system until you disable and re-enable it. For people like myself who absolutely love shooting with old adapted manual lenses, or even newer manual lenses like Lensbabys, this is frustrating beyond belief.

Wow I had no idea. How frustrating. I will send feedback to Canon as well.

I was really hoping for the ability to customise fps in H+ mode on R7, e.g. set it to 10-12fps. I think this would help address shutter shock on burst images in EFCS mode.

Yeah, I'm about ready to move on at this point. The R7 is fantastic for action, birding, and everything it was purpose built for. But for stills at night, and just street photog with older fun lenses, it's just too aggravating. I paid extra for the IBIS, and it's half-functional.

I can see how that would be annoying. Maybe the R6II is the camera for you? I don't know whether the IBIS on that works with old adapted manual lenses (I don't shoot with those), but it's certainly a great camera for stills at night (and pretty much everything else).

That was my thought as well. I may take some lenses over to the local shop and see if it has the same bug as well and see what they'll do for a trade. Someone mentioned the R5 used to have a similar issue and they eventually fixed it.

That gives some hope for the issue. I hope Canon pays attention and provides a fix like they seem to have done in the past with the R5.
