Peak Design Rain Cover, M50mkII, and 15-45mm or 11-22mm

I am planning to start hiking with my M50 MK II and either the 15-45 lens or the 11-22 lens. Is anyone using a Peak Design Rain Cover with this camera/lens combo, and if so which size? I plan to have the camera on a capture clip v3 on the pack shoulder strap so don’t want to cover to be oversized.

thanks in advance!

Out of curiosity I checked out the PD rain cover @ B&H. The reviews were not very positive for a PD product. I have a couple PD enhancements and was surprised to see enough people agree that the workmanship and materials were top notch but the application  left much to be desired. It was enough to keep me from thinking about buying one.

Rain covers can be a pain in the neck.  They can easily interfere with the functioning of the lens or camera.  I suppose some of them can be good, but a plastic bag with rubber band also works.  Try it before you need it.

I don't know why you would take one of those lenses and leave the other.  You'll definitely need the 15-45 if you are a normal photographer, and the 11-22 is a great lens that you are likely to need sooner or later.  Don't be afraid to change lenses in the field unless you are in a very dirty or wet environment.

Thx for the input on rain covers. Based on your and some other feedback, I’ll probably go with a dry sack for the camera that I can use when I need to get the camera out of the rain.

I’ll definitely be taking both lenses, along with the 55-250. My current plan is to have one of the lenses on the camera on a peak design capture clip on my pack’s shoulder strap.  The other two lenses will be in my pack so I can swap as needed. One of the reasons I got the M system was that the size and weight allows me to easily take the camera plus 2-3 lenses on my hiking and backpacking trips.

You can easily have the camera around your neck, that two lenses in pockets.  That way you have almost complete coverage from 11 mm to 250 mm.  FF cameras just can't match that kind of versatility.

I have used my camera in light rain, just by keeping it under my jacket.  The hood on my raincoat provides additional protection when I'm taking a picture.  A few small drops doesn't hurt anything, but you don't want water penetrating into the camera, of course.

I am using a Peak Design Shell Camera (S-size) on a Canon EOS M6 mark 2 camera. Sigma 56mm, ttartisan 50mm lenses. The solution has strengths and weaknesses. The strong side is that the cover really protects against moisture (rain, snow). The weak side is that the convenience of controlling the camera is lost. I used two approaches: 1) I took pictures using a smartphone (remote control via wifi) and 2) I turned the case away so that the screen was visible. The transparent plastic insert is very lacking. Both options are not perfect, but they work.

Another application is remote shooting. I put the camera on a tripod, set up the scene and shoot via wifi or bluetooth. I tried shooting on EOS M + ttartisan 50mm with Motion Detection function. Accuracy in setting up is required. But the option works fine.
