Replacement for Tamron 35-150
I've been using the Tamron 35-150 in my R5 for some time and I love it. Despite the color (a bit too warm), the lens is super Sharp and I love the range and it been 2.8 at 35mm and "only" f4 at 150mm.
However, the lens is slow to focus, so much that many times it makes the camera lag and stay in a black screen before actually taking the picture. Sometimes the AF just refuses to continue working and I need to manually move the focus ring and then the lens start focusing again. And sometimes the VC has some glitches and I need to turn off and on the camera. I Brought the lens to the service center and it's supposed to be within specs according to them, so I guess it's firmware issues or whatever (the Lens is updated).
I'm thinking about replacing it, but seems to be a hard thing to do with the Canon RF system nowadays. I can't justify spending a Fortune.
Sometimes I do some jobs as a night photographer in clubs, and for the rest I do some travel photography, portraits...
- possible choice going for the 24-105, I gain the 24mm end and the lens will work wonderfully, but I lose the long end thdt nice for portraits and landscapes, and being f4 the whole range...
- other choice is the ef 24-70 f2.8, the mark I is nice and cheap second handed, Mark II is way more expensive and some people talk good about the rendering and color from version I... I have the 24mm, full Canon lens corrections (I love thst I get thst with my Sigmas as well but not with Tamron), and the AF should be good. But then I'd need to add a 70-200 for landscapes...
- other choice is the sigma 24-70 2.8. Camera corrections and 24mm, but seems not as good as Tamron and canon II? And warmer colors... Also the price of this one is almost double than the Tamron...
- Tamron 24-70 2.8. Sharper than the sigma, the af should be much better than the 35-150, but again no in camera corrections and I'd need a 70-200...
- other option is moving to Sony and getting the Tamron 35-150 f2-2.8. That would be amazing but I hate Sony colors and struggled with af accuracy in the past, I just love canon.
Any experiences with these lenses? Recommendation? I really wish this lens worked properly because I love it but everytime I use it it's a headache...
