White Egret, Eagle, Heron and Nutria
4

Here are some pictures I took of a white egret, eagle, heron and nutria. The nutria permitted me to come quite close.

Photo No. 1 - This white egret was in an interesting spot, along the dead plants.

Photo No. 2 - Again....  The white bird stands out better with this darker background.

Photo No. 3 - I finally got a picture of an eagle.

Photo No. 4 - And the other side....

Photo No. 5 - The heron on a post....

Photo No. 6 - Again....

Photo No. 7 - Again...different side....

Photo No. 8 - Again...on a different day I took this in light rain. Look carefully...you can see the light rain in the background. I moved the umbrella to the side and carefully took this without shaking too much. Then I wiped the lens and camera dry. I was taking a chance with my gear, but I wanted to get this one. The weather was not cooperating at the moment.

Photo No. 9 - Another one....

Photo No. 10 - It's kind of cool when I can take pictures of Nutria with the Canon 18-135mm lens. Notice the high ISO of 8000. I'm always amazed how well this camera does in cloudy and rainy weather.

White Egret, Eagle, Heron and Nutria - Thanks

Thanks. I'm fortunate where I live that I have a lot of different places that I can take wildlife photos. These newer cameras make it possible in cloudy and rainy weather with the higher ISO levels that we can use.

White Egret, Eagle, Heron and Nutria - Thanks

Thanks.  I hope you get a telephoto lens with a long focal length.  The lens was expensive, but considering I have used it for over five years, it was well worth it.

Hi Digirame,

Super photos of your wildlife, love the pictures of the white egrets, it's so difficult to get the exposures right when you have white birds and dark backgrounds.

White Egret, Eagle, Heron and Nutria - Thanks

Thanks. In this case, the exposure was actually easy for the white egret. That's because I used the nine center AF points and center weighted average exposure.

Re: Spring is just around the corner.

I like your flying geese.  The lighting and exposure looks great.  Some day I hope to capture a Mandarin duck. They are rarely seen where I live.  Your female and male Mandarin look super.  I like seeing your Grebe also.  We don't have one that looks like that.  Our variety is a Western Grebe, but I have yet to photograph one.  Seeing the Muscovey duck is neat also.  I've seen a few.
