Samsung again

Like many others I was very disappointed when Samsung quit cameras.  I loved their products. I went to Panasonic M43 and I'm happy with my equipment.  But - I think a lot about my Samsung gear so after some years I just picked up a nice NX300M and I found a mint 20mm pancake lens.  I'm looking forward to using it for street/walking around.  It's like having an old friend back.  Getting used to no stabilization will take some conscious thought.

Very much so!

I use my NX5 with a 28mm Industar-69 for a lot of my "street" work ... not as compact as the bodies with no eye-level viewfinder, but very satisfactory, and am often grateful for the higher ISO speeds under appropriate circumstances.

Enjoy

Re: Samsung again

I just bought a NX500 and just got a bunch of lenses!! This is my first DSLR and I'm really excited to shoot some photos with it - I got the RX100M3 a couple of months ago, and previously I'd used my phone a lot to take photos so I'm really excited to delve into photography!

I got the 18-55, 60, 80, & 50-200mm lenses and it's all so interesting in how they perform in different lightning conditions, focal length, as well as min. subject distance!

Everybody has their favorite lenses, and will recommend them left and right, so I'll make it brief

You'll get the most interesting results (and quite some learning experience) from prime lenses. The 60mm and 85mm ones are great, but also rather special-purpose. You probably should get the 45mm f/1.8 (I prefer the version without the 3D gimmick, as it has an AF/MF switch), or the 30mm for casual / street photography. The 45mm is my absolute favorite due to its awesome bokeh and nice fast focusing, but you'll need really long arms to make selfies with it

Re: Samsung again

Ah, thanks for your recommendation! I'm honestly having tons of fun with the 60/80mm lens as I like portrait photography and stuff with bokeh haha!

I'll try to find the 45mm lens in my country although it's a little hard and I spent a little too much on the 80mm lens right now; Perhaps in a couple of months when I feel like I need a new lens I'll get it! For now, the 18-55mm will be my all purpose kinda lens cause I broke my 16-50mm pancake lens oops!

Re: Samsung again

Sorry, not really familiar with the terminology, basically shots/subjects with the bokeh/blurred effect is super fun and interesting to me, kinda like how phones do the portrait mode with the fake blur, but like for real with the lenses that I have

Got it.  Here's a good explanation of the term. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bokeh

I believe smart phone users somewhere sometime liked the term and began using it as a definition for the out of focus areas. Essentially... You can't have bokeh in an image but you can have a pleasing bokeh in your image. Confusing, yes.
