Sounds good, I head out that way occasionally myself.  I'll keep my eye out for a smiling man with an R5/100-500 combo - I know I'll be smiling when I get that pair!

Cheers,

Ron.

Look for a smiling 73-year old with glasses. It took me this long in life to get up the nerve to spend this much money on a camera and lens! No regrets.

Cheers,
Rudy

Spectacular videography there Rudy. Great to hear all of the calls too. Sometimes we have species here that look similar but the call really highlights their differences.

HI Phill,

Thanks so much for your encouraging words. This is in fact my first video that I'm actually satisficed with since getting the camera 4 months ago. It has taken me that long to get the hang of it, but now I'm loving it.

Full disclosure regarding the bird calls: The original audio tracks for each clip were terrible, full of wind and wind gust noises and the birds were for the most part silent. I collected various bird calls from public domain sources and included them at appropriate places in the video.

Cheers,
Rudy

I had guessed the sounds thing. I have also struggled with sound but am getting better at it. It is great to have such public domain resources and then to see them used so well. It really helps me get more in the moment.

Glad to see you are enjoying yourself now. It is quite a learning curve moving systems, doubly so going mirrorless at the same time. My head struggles at times and I still find myself screwing up when old muscle memory kicks in.

Dang, one was about 300 yards away, and the other was a no-show.

So sorry to hear that. That sure is the nature of these beauties, isn't it? OH well, we've got a few more weeks till they all head back home up North

I hear you on that one.  I'm struggling with the idea of replacing a camera only one year after purchase because it just doesn't do what I want.  I made the decision and have the money saved, but can't seem to take the final step.

Life is too short to worry about these things. Just do it because you are worth it.

Thanks Phill.  Yeah, I'll get there.  Its just funny how ingrained this is.  Both of my parents grew up through WW2 in Europe.

Thanks Bob,

The frame rate was 120fps shot in 4K and the average ISO for most the darker clips was around ISO 8,000 according to ExifTool.

Rudy
