M6 Mark II - Kelvin White balance gone crazy

Has anyone encountered this type of problem?
Kelvin white balance all of the sudden changed to -30000 by itself and I cannot change the balance back to plus value. I can only lower it even further.
Right icon is grayed out.. so i can only go further to minus.

Restarting to factory settings managed to reset Kelvin values to default (5200).

I noticed that regardless of this problem, the camera started behaving strangely lately. Front shutter dial issues.. shutter speed changed for example from 1/250 to bulb all of a sudden etc.
Touch screen is disabled, so there is no accidental touch on it.
Just a light touch on the shutter dial and the settings change instantly.

Do you think i should visit service center or there is no help?

Sounds like your Main Control Dial might be bad.

Send to Canon ($$$), or a “local” repair shop?  If you’re handy (and brave), maybe attempt disassembly yourself (watch videos).  Clean the dial with “plastic safe” contact cleaner, or replace with parts from FleaBay…

Best of luck!

Thanks a lot R2..

I assumed that the problem is with the Main control dial..
Will have to check with the local Canon service next week, and see what they think about the possible repair and cost.

I hope the repair process is possible and not too expensive. If not, I will have to buy a new body.

There was another discussion about M6II dials here, including some recommendations on how to try fixing it at home: https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/66476883

Yours seems worse though since it’s the main dial.

Ok, so this is already a known problem as far as I can see on this link.

Thank goodness I have a specialized industrial contact spray at home.. It is strictly for electronics applications. Basically, I did everything according to the instructions from the link and for now it seems ok.

Also, I managed to find a new body at a local dealer.. They have a few in stock, so I think I'll get one just for backup. The camera is simply too good.

Thanks..

Glad to hear it, and a second body sounds like a great idea!

Outstanding!  Contact cleaner can do great things.

I started using it on my analog stereo audio equipment’s “scratchy” controls (pots) decades ago, and it really transformed the sound.  Spray it in and spin the dials!

Excellent idea.  Happy shooting!
