PowerLines and Garbage

danielhenzphoto-san

Thank you for introducing Japan with your wonderful photos.

An international traveler compared the birds perched on the wires to musical notes in the form of a musical staff

>About the garbage: there is basically none. But there are no bins either. The must take everything home?
Yes. From the time they are young, Japanese people are strictly trained to take their garbage home. Trash cans are regarded as hiding places for explosives by terrorists, and their installation is regulated to a minimum. Travelers put their trash in bags and throw them away when they are lucky enough to come across a trash can. They must not only throw it away, but also sort it according to the material of the garbage.

Nice views of Japan with cool air.

I would like to add some URL showing MtFujiNow by live video cameras

1. Typical composition from EDO era, 200 years ago from YUI seashore .

2. From the lake KAWAGUCHI at my view point 2008.

3. and more from me for you

4. If you could stay at Japan one more month, you will enjoy MtFuji with full blossom of cherry tree from LakeKawaguchi......

Have nice trip without earthquake ....

Re: First impressions of Japan

I've been to Japan six times. If you can, please walk to several towns along the Nakasendo "Highway". This is one of the main roads to Edo (current day Tokyo) that the daimyo had to take take annually to pay their respects (and leave family members behind) to the Shogun.  It connects towns that were bypassed by the trains and look, for the most part, the way they looked 200 years ago.

Also, if you're anywhere near Osaka, spend a night or two in a Shinto temple in Koyasan.  A few of them allow Westerners to stay in them.

So many places to see. I could go on and on.

Re: Last impressions of Japan

Did you walk through the temple gardens on the way to the Tokyo Tower?  Very peaceful and very inspiring.
