First impressions of Japan
16

Hi everyone

I am in Japan for a couple of weeks and here are my first impressions.

Many people, but relativly queit cities

Very big cities

Great public transports

Food is very tasty but needs time to get used to

Extremly friendly and helpful people. 2 old ladies tried to help me fix my bicycle just because they wanted to help.

Hope I can get in some landscapes as well.

Here are some of my images:

Very nice and interesting shots. I've only flown through the airport as a stop over in Japan a few times on the way back and forth to Asia, but would love to put a long trip together over there to explore one day.

Some context on the images of what they are and what we are looking at would be great

Wonderful images.  Do try to visit Kyoto, a most interesting and beautiful city.  And don't miss Nara, a small gem of a city well worth a day or two to explore.

Best,

Nice set and great work with the Pixel 7.  One thing high on my list was cleanliness and lack of garbage on the streets and sidewalks.

It is a tough job living in Hawaii but somebody has to do it.

Very clean but some streets realy not be refurbished. Also all the power lines hanging around in the city, especially where people live, look very dated.

About the garbage: there is basically none. But there are no bins either. The must take everything home?

I used the Pixel 7 not that much for taking photos, but edited allmost every picture on it. Used my R6 with F4-Trinity +50mm 1.8 for most. Only 1, 2 and 4 are taken with the Pixel.

Re: First impressions of Japan

If picture number three was mine, I would spend time making good job of removing the cones and tape. Without them there, this would be my favourite. (I have no issue with retouching to improve - I am not a photojournalist )

Yeah I was thinking about it. But for the sake of story, I left them in. And I think it adds to the colors.

Power Lines, Traffic Cones, that is Japan. I always keep mine in.

See how neat and tidy and precise they are... that's Japan.

Power Lines are everywhere

My one query would be: Why such a short exposure and ISO 2000?

Good question. I don't know why. Maybe I was in a dark room just before. But at this point, I don't care that much about the noise anymore. My R6 is so good with it.

Also quiet like your 2nd foto in black and white

Excellent photos. I have been to Japan several times, the last of which was in 2004. I have to admit that your Google pixel pictures are better than those from the available digital cameras I used back then!!
