5ds vs R5

I'm using both cameras, mainly in studio settings. To my eyes the 5ds produces smoother images than the R5 with Huelight/ Colorfidelity profiles. What am I getting wrong?

What about with Adobe profiles?

To my understanding, before huelight profiles were made the old way, and now they're more like a LUT file on top of a base profile. Maybe these LUTs make specific colors more similar to the original Canon jpg intention but they're less smooth. Just my guess.

Firstly please define "smoother images". Ideally using typical examples of smooth and non smooth image.

5Ds seemed a little richer

Definitely preferred the images out of the 5Ds, even though the difference was very small. I chalked it up to a better Adobe profile at first but when I used DPP, that was still the case so, I don't know what's leading to that. Personally, I thought the 5Ds files seemed richer in color. Not just more saturation, but more depth. Maybe a smoother gradation which showcased or allowed more saturation before seeming unnatural, IDK.

That said, the 5Ds doesn't get me nearly as many shots to choose from (due to the AF) and just about everything else about it is well behind the R5, so I haven't dwelled on it.
