It's probably sharp enough, but it's very noisy, so it's hard to fix. Are you sure that jpeg is straight out of camera? Is it from the raw file?  It looks like a gray, low light day.

Did you save the files with highest quality?

Lightroom mus have added some sharpening. I didn't do anythhing in lightroom just exported as a jpeg, didn't click any resoluion or file size setting while exporting.

Ah

Lightroom = Noise with the R7 at ISO 400 and above......and lots of noise at higher ISO's.   Hence why don't use it anymore.  OK Topaz Denoise AI can do wonders.

The best way to show these kinds of pictures is to post the whole thing, so the image can be seen 100%. Yes, the best ones look like the best you can get, with that combination, which I have.

More than likely hinder it, as the x1.4 on that lens, makes for a bit more lens hunting, in anything less than perfect light

OK, so this is a file from Lightroom, not straight from the camera.  The process of editing or converting a raw photo can easily conceal low exposure.

I don't know how it got that way, but it's noisy. My guess is that the exposure is quite low for the illumination. In other words, underexposed. Could that be the case?

One word - Adobe.  Noisy on crop cameras.

I tried the combo on a sunny day with good light. I was closer to the subjects and maybe I'm handling the kit better now. So after my first outing was kind of disappointing, now I'm quite pleased with latest photos. pretty common birds though.

I'm sharing some of them...

Yes, more than acceptable, especially if you're happy with them.

I like this shot a lot.

Crop sensor + TC + crazy compact non L zoom is pushing it to the max, and probably (well, likely) a little over the max of what the lens can deliver, however, for the weight and money I think this is a great result. I'm also not sure the RF 600mm f/11 would give a whole lot better result.

I'm staying away from this kind of photography, as it really gets too heavy and too expensive when you want the best or close to the best IQ.
