Larger R7 II Canon ?
2

Hi, is anyone else finding the R7 a bit on the small side ?

AF speed is incredibly good, it's full of wonderful functions, but its small size means smaller and more fiddly controls compared to a 7D II.
Great if you want a smaller and ligher camera, but that joystick and dial combination, argh!

Canon, please could we have a version with a more pro-like body like the 7D II, or even like the 90D ?

Anyone else feel the same?

Just give us an optional battery grip,

(and faster sensor readout, and bigger buffer and Pre Capture like Olympus and . . .   )

Some love a battery grip, but not for me, and it doesn't improve the small controls

To be honest the size doesn’t bother me. If the next version sorta the rolling shutter I would be happy, that and a lock button on the mode dial would be good.

Can't yet tell if its good that we've passed complaining about the sensor read out speeds and moved on to size.

LOL, but who's complaining, it's just polite feedback to Canon for the next APS-C version, I'm sure Canon will take heed, WON'T YOU CANON !!!

Arrrgh, no no no, no grip for me thanks

But hey, who knows how to produce a grip with a 3D printer?...

No, not at all. I love the reduced size and weight of the R7, compared with the large and heavy 7D and 7DII that I used for ten years.

And a tilt-able LCD screen. The flip-out screen gets in the way for low level compositions.

My only wish is for room between grip and lens on R5 and R7.  Hard to get fingers in with gloves on.

No. But I do think it should have a built in flash, like the 7d ii and the 90d.

R6 II body with top screen...

Interesting replies, thanks guys

I would love to see the R7 II in an R6 II body, with the mode dial moved back to the left side and the return of a top LCD screen. Yeah !

Please Canon ?

Hell, you could even call it an R4...

The R7 has pre capture

As far as I'm concerned the R7 is just fine as is. But it Canon were to make it larger I'd definitely want a good 30-32 MP sensor to go with it.  I would want Canon to get rid of that dumb on-off-video switch.  Can't believe they did that.

Re: Larger R7 II Canon ? No thanks.

Obviously one size doesn't fit all. I can see folks with big hands would find it small. It's really comfortable for me. All fingers fit on the grip (unlike my Z50) and the buttons are well placed. I particularly like the combo dial/joystick. So conveniently placed! Better than the Nikon back dial that requires a thumb scrunch or the Canon back wheel that takes a thumb stretch.

The R7 has pre capture

yes, but it's crude and inflexible compared to what Olympus offers

This is the problem with every camera, it doesn’t fit everyone’s wants. I like the flip screen, others call it a deal breaker. Odd world we live in really

I like the flip screen - I keep it closed most of the time for protection in rough places.
In some other applications my camera is in a location where a fixed or tilting screen would not be visible or accessible. The flippy screen OTOH can be flipped and turned to a usable position. But that's just my need and I respect alternate view points on this
