? for those of you with both the R5 and the R7

Thanks for your response R2. Out of curiosity, what are the one or two lenses you use mostly on the R6II? I've been using my R5 with the RF100-500 lens. If I get the R6II I would probably use it with my RF70-200 and also with the RF24-105. It would probably be my more general use camera, covering many different situations.

The RF 100-500 (+/- 1.4x) is on my R5 most of the time too. It's my ideal birding/wildlife setup.

Thanks for getting back to me with all this information...it really helps. Recently the R5 with the RF 100-500 seems to be my goto bird setup. Sometimes I will throw the 100-500 on the R7 and that does very well also.

The RF 24-105L is on my R6 right now. Ready for just about anything that might pop up.

I like this lens for general use and sometimes will use it on the R5. If I get the R6II I would probably switch between it and the RF 70-200

The RF 24-105 STM is on my R7 at the moment (just testing the lens out). Normally the RF 100L Macro sits on my R7 (in season).

The RF 18-150 kit lens that came with the R7 (at least my copy) happens to be a very good lens and works really well paired with the R7

The R6ii is my Event/Sports and occasional Portrait body. I love the RF 28-70 f/2L as my general purpose lens. It's simply spectacular. I use it for events and sports (I gotta have a zoom for what and how I shoot these).

Before I moved to Canon, I used the Z24-70 F4 S lens on the Nikon Z6. It was a nice light weight and very capable setup for lots of different things. Pretty good landscape setup too. I haven't tried the RF 28-70 yet, but may have to look into it if I get the R6II.

When I need more reach, the RF 70-200 f/2.8L is right there in my bag. It's the best in its class (IMO), and way more fun to shoot than its predecessors.

Really like this lens on both the R5 and R7

For wider, the RF 15-35 f/2.8L is simply unbeatable, and I love it for general video as well. It's also really really good on the R7 as a standard zoom.

For portraits when I want max DOF Control, I have the Sigma EF 135mm f/1.8. It's wonderful, and only curiosity would cause me to try the new RF 135.

I also have a box of the RF STM primes for when I want a changeup.

My "just for fun" and travel camera is the little M6ii (with a dozen EF-M lenses). Love the form factor and tilting LCD. Spot AF isn't as fun as Eye AF, but my keeper rates with Spot AF on that camera are close to 100% no matter the subject. Can't argue with that.

My trusty M6 is used only for low res product shots (I have a spectacular copy of the EF-M 18-55).

I've been toying with the idea of getting an R8 to replace the R7 as my macro camera, since the RF 100L has the "built-in 1.4x." IQ will be better and 14-bit RAWs (20 FPS) eShutter are very promising. I use Focus Bracketing almost exclusively now for macros (stack, or cherry-pick the best focal plane(s)). Keeper rates are much higher than traditional methods. I have some great portable LCD panels for illumination.

Man I tell ya, Canon is really killing it right now. No better place to be (IMHO).

So happy I moved to Canon from Nikon. Sold 3 bodies and 13 lenses and never looked back. I couldn't agree with you more that Canon is the place to be right now.

Thank you again for all this information. Going to seriously consider getting the R6II. It seems as though it would take a good place in my assortment of gear.

Sorry but I didn't read but a couple of the replies other than my original reply to this thread. I had not made many photos for a few months (other than on trips) but have been out the last few weeks near where I live and have used the R5 with 24-240 lens and am amazed with the results. These is not eye-opening photos--- just a few from some small towns around where I live. All with R5.
