Omega 620 watch movement
1

Focus stack of 15 images of a movement that I've had sitting around for a while that I've been afraid to touch a) since it's an Omega and b) my track record has been pretty abysmal. Anyway, took the hands and dial off and gave it a wind and it's running! So I'll give it a clean and lube and hopefully count it as my first watch repair success.

Re: Omega 620 watch movement

I assume the omega signs on the purple bits is your ring flash, and not them marking their originality

I had the movement sitting under the microscope with the ring light on. It's an adjustable intensity 60 lamp LED light ring. You can see the full 360° circle of the light in the upper left jewel. I'm not sure why the next two seem to have the "feet" that the omega symbol would have. The purple pieces are domed synthetic sapphire pivot bearings that hold oil on the pivots for the train of wheels.

i like the ring light effect, since getting a flash gun I’ve never used mine, but for indoor static subjects it has some advantages, flash can be overpowering. I’ll have to try both approaches next time

“domed synthetic sapphire pivot bearings”, that’s what I meant to say but didn’t have time to research it
