M6ii

My  M6ii is on eco mode sitting idle with EX 430 flash attached on tripod waiting for birds to come; every few minutes the camera turns on and off again without me touching the camera . Is this normal or is this behavior extra ordinary? Thanks for your input.

Does it do the same thing without the flash?

Re: M6ii

The last time I tried that I had to keep the camera active (and or its wifi link to my phone) by pressing something (eg focus) every couple of minutes. the battery seemed to last a couple of hours which was longer than my patience

If i lost wifi i had to go out into the garden to get things going again

Re: M6ii

I forgot to tell you that my M6ii was connected to Anker power bank. I tried this also without 430EX ii and the camera still cycles on and off in ECO mode; WiFi & blue tooth was disabled.......But  when I use the EPE17 battery the camera is OK in ECO mode; all is fine. This seems to be coused by the Power Bank. Thanks for your input.

Thanks.  Interesting!  You’re talking about using the “fake battery” style power supply (with adapter), right?  Is it the USB style?  Can you try plugging it into a wall outlet with a USB power block as a supply?

I wonder if it’s a function of the camera or the power bank/supply.  I’m still out of town right now, but I should try it with mine when I get home.  It can be powered from any 5v USB source (“fake battery” style).

See if you can do any more experiments.  I take it you want the camera to be in “standby” so that you can wake it and take pictures when opportunity arises?

Re: M6ii

I use the M6II as a webcam connected to a charger with a fake battery. The only thing that gets in the way is the screen automatically turning off after a certain time, and I think you cannot completely disable it (from what I remember half an hour is the maximum setting where I would then need to half-press on the shutter again to see something on the display).

But I haven’t seen it go on & off again while using it in such a setup. Did you get genuine Canon accessories? Does the power bank deliver enough juice all the time?

Re: M6ii

I was useing the Anker power bank with the LPE 17 battery adapter & voltage adapter from 5 v to 8.4v     I'm not sure if the Anker power bank charges via the USB input; I don't use this methood because the camera must be off to charge the battery defeating the purpose of having the camera always on in stand by mode.
