I bought an X-E1 today...
4

I have been using Fujifilm cameras since the original X100, X-Pro1 and X-E1. I bought them all the first day they were available. Since then I have used (and sold) many Fujis. Currently I have an X-Pro3 and an X-E4 plus a GFX-50R. Still, I saw a perfect condition X-E1 come up for a price that you just do not see anymore and I had to go for it. As a bonus, the 16-50mm XC II was included.  Not my style of lens, but for the price useful sometime in the future maybe.

I do not remember this camera being as good as it is. The AF isn't as slow as I remember and the EVF truly isn´t that bad. I can see now why these bodies are going up in price. Anyone else buying older Fujis these days? If so, which one(s)?

Sounds well bought indeed. Wishing you a lot of fun getting reintroduced to an old friend.

I just bought an X-T20 to be a companion to my X-T2. So far it is exactly what I hoped it would be-- the perfect combination of that camera and my much loved X-T10. (I'm keeping the X-T10 as a test bed for pinhole photography and maybe some experiments with infrared filters or even one of those Lensbaby Trios.)

I would also buy an X70 or a really minty X-T1, particularly in the Graphite color, if one crossed my path. And I know it doesn't count as recently buying a new old Fuji, but I still have a wonderful X-M1 that I bought used many years ago. It is still in regular use as my smallest camera or a corner-of-the-bag street solution. It seems to get along particularly well with the 27mm f/2.8 WR. Long live the Little Monster.

I bought an X-E1 recently--was going to sell my Fuji gear but the lens didn't sell. Oops. I figured I'd get a low cost body to go with my lens. Went from an X-T2 to the X-E1. Love the X-E1.

two XT1 bodies died on me so I purchased two more.  I just purchased a used GFX 50S that it actually looks completely new.  Amazing.  Oh and I still have my XE1 that I never sold.

Re: I bought an X-E1 today...

I purchased a small pile of gear from a guy back in September and sold a good portion of it. When the dust settled, I kept an X-T1, 10-24mm lens, the small Fuji flash and a few B+W filters. My total out of pocket after selling off the rest is $105.

So now, I like to say that I got the X-T1 for free. This little camera is really a gem! I love it with the 27mm f2.8 V2 (with aperture ring), and with either of my small cheap manual lenses: Meike 35mm f1.4 or Pergear 25mm f1.8

I love how the X-T1 feels. It's nice and compact with great build quality.

I don't imagine I'll ever sell this little guy!

Re: I bought an X-E1 today...

I have an XE1 still, my first proper X series.  The focussing is fine as long as you stick to AF-S and don’t expect it to deal with a moving subject.  The turn-off for me is the EVF and specifically how dark it is in bright light, and how laggy it is in low light - that was what pushed me towards the X-Pro1 in the end.

The XE1 is a nice little package though - I always liked the little bounceable flash built in - and you can’t argue with the image quality even now.

Re: I bought an X-E1 today...

Just bought a used X-E3 but would have considered earlier models if they were in stock.

Last Fuji body I bought was the X-T2 so similar performance although the eye sensor switching between LCD and viewfinder seems slower than I remember.

Still, nice to have a smaller walk-around body again.

I still remember the joys of focusing with the X-T10 and slower (AF) primes, especially the 56mm f1.2 wide open in low light.

Moved on to setups with significantly better AF since then but none with a manual focusing system as intuitive as Fuji's.

No need to buy one. I already did almost 10 years ago. At the time I was traveling for work all the time, going to some pretty cool places.  I was taking photos wish gasp my Blackberry then soon after 1st gen iPhone.  I was getting some great photos except on a subpar system.  So I decided I needed a camera. I never shot film except on some point and shoots and Polaroids but grew up in a house with a dark room so had an appreciation for manual settings.  The Fuji’s piqued my interest.   The XE1 with the 18-55 kits is what I bought into.  Just a nice sized kit to travel with.  To this day some of my favorite photographs were taken by it. While I have upgraded a few times in recent years the XE1 still has a home in my work backpack. No regrets.

X-E2S

I missed the X-E2S, carelessly traded for an X-T4 in 2021. After trading back down to a like-new X-E2S again two weeks ago, I had enough cash from the deal to buy a much-needed set of all weather tires for a relative. Now we're both happy as clams.

I have had my 2 X-E1 bodies for near 10 years now, a black one and a silver one.  They are still chugging along and doing fine.  I still have the 2 8gb sd cards in them that I put in 10 years ago as well, both still working.

I just got a Rokinon 21mm 1.4 in the mail today and took it out on my porch for a couple test shots.  Looks like I will love it and got it for $144 dollars shipping, tax and all.

Hi John. I am still using my 10 years old X-E1. I have both the X-T3 and the X-E1 in the same bag. Today the 56 f/1.2 is on the x-E1 and a manuzl Canon 300mm F4L is on the X-T3. Enjoy.

You might as well start a YouTube channel.  Apparently the Sexy1 is a thing again.  A handful of you’re not gonna believe this camera in 2023 clickbait videos are showing up.

Haha, that makes me feel strange to think about.   I don’t think I could talk about why I like the camera for more than 30 seconds.  Those self appointed experts talk for like 15 minutes.  I’d rather make some photos.

I purchased bithe the E1 and E2 lately (about one year ago) and couldn't be happier. I had both for a song or two, nothing even close to the prices you're seeing these days.

The still produce beautiful images:)

The X-Trans 1 Sensors are some of my favorites. I recently moved out of Fuji for landscape/travel use back to Nikon (personal reasons, no IQ issues with Fuji or anything), but I've got my eye out for an X-T1 and 35mm 1.4 to keep as a "around the house" kit for candids, like a mega X100

You must have been lucky price wise. On E-Bay in Germany, X-E1 are currently selling at a price that 6 months ago I have paid for an X-E3. And the X-E3 is offered for €600! There's clearly a hype going on currently and I will lay low until the wind blows over.

I bought a mint condition X-Pro1, it's a great camera (since all of the updates). The newest expensive models don't offer me enough extra for me to want to upgrade (except maybe the adjustable dioptre, but I have a Nikon dioptre that solved that issue), it still takes lovely images and the video capability is completely hidden for all intents and purposes, which is better for me as I don't shoot video. I also still love and use the original X100, same thing really, it's totally fine for my useage and produces lovely images, and always will. I can't forsee a time when I'll be a such a good photographer that I've outgrown these cameras to be honest.

Re: I bought an X-E1 today...

I wanted an affordable Fujifilm body with flip screen, the older 16mpx sensor and no evf to go with an XF 23mm f1.4 for street and low light photography. Found at the time an X-A1 and an X-A10, went for the latter as I found its ergonomics to be better, the thumb grip is placed higher. And being newer, it has the classic chrome film sim not available on the X-A1. And I don’t need a hotshoe. I’m satisfied with this setup.

Just do note that X-T1 had X-Trans II sensor already, where original X-Trans I models are X-Pro1, X-E1 and X-M1 (that last one having a different processor, though, reportedly affecting the resulting images, too).

I bought it in Chile.  No hype here yet. Small market.  Usually more expensive here.  Not this time though.  However, I’m originally from the USA so I’m aware of how things are priced generally in different markets.
