Mocha,

Do the viaducts and aqueducts date from Roman times, or are they more recent?

Re: Where two Canals meet... Addendum.

Hi stevet1,

Chirk Aqueduct is a 70-foot (21 m) high and 710-foot (220 m) long navigable aqueduct that carries what is now the Llangollen Canal across the Ceiriog Valley near Chirk, on the England-Wales border, spanning the two countries.

The foundation stone was laid on 17 June 1796 and it was completed in 1801

The Viaduct was built between 1846 and 1848.

Here's a sunrise I captured one morning. The red colors were stunning. I don't know if I have seen anything like it. I kept taking different ones. It was hard to pick which one was my favorite. I hope you like them too.

Re: It's a spring thing

I like seeing the flowers.  We have crocus coming up, but it will be many days until we see flowers.  We had a dusting of snow this morning.

Those are beautiful structures.  I like seeing the arches.  Steve got the answer I was looking for too, about the history.

Re: Stopped into a church…

Cool...I've been inside churches too, to not only pray but also to appreciate the beauty.  I've take a few photos too.

Here's a small church we visited a little over a year ago.  The church was found in a rural farming community in Oregon.

That is an amazing photo.  You definitely should enter it.  Also, the weather website I use in Canada shows relevant photos daily.  May be a one in your area.

Great job !

Thanks a lot! Something telling me to enter it into a photo competition. I already entered it into the DPR challenge called 'My Best Photo of the Fortnight'. So 🤞

Re: Sunrise - Thanks

That is an amazing photo.  The lighting seen in the lower part of the image, is similar to what I like to capture when I see a sunrise or sunset with a body of water (like a lake or ocean etc.).

Re: Sunrise - Thanks

Hawkypuck,

What a pretty picture.

You were smart to take a vertical approach too.

Re: Sunrise - Thanks

Thanks steve.

I used the nifty fifty!- actually a 80mm on my camera, so a nifty eighty:-D

I shot it vertical because i did not want to get the cluttered outsides in frame, and people were walking next to me-ruined a few shots-and because i was using an 80mm eq., i had to ahot vertical to get the sky, and the water/puddles in frame.

I just decided to do vertical, idk why, ny gut told me to:-)

Hawkypuck,,

No, the vertical approach leads the eye right up into the sky. I liked your long exposure too.

Can I offer a suggestion?

Crop the picture to eliminate the light pole on the left.

It centers the waves in the frame and removes a distraction at the same time.

Good suggestion-but i framed the shot specifically to have the flagpole in the frame and as a bit of a 'subject' and as a human 'touch'.
