And Sony had already added a couple more in 2011, including the 24MP NEX-7. Canon was there with a more conventional appearing EOS-M a couple months after the K-01. I imagine development takes several years which would suggest the K-01 was being developed during the period Pentax was being swallowed by Hoya and then divvied up with Ricoh. Pentax may have had the right idea, likely the wrong camera, and definitely at a very difficult time.

Before the K-01.  It was announced in June 2011 and I bought mine in October that year.

Hmmm, if only the KF was a camera without the mirror, it be cheaper no? Could have been an experiment to test the waters again. Would have been interesting.

Probably not if you add a decent evf back in.

Why are you being mean? Yes, I did laugh but as a former K-01 owner and fan of misfit cameras, I would actually like a K-02. Faster AF and a hotshoe EVF and I'm good. Never going to happen, of course. The head of Pentax would rather shutter the business than see an EVF in one of his ILCs.

Yes, definitely a good time to release some new gxr models. Infrared? Monochrome? 645?

No chances. Never be K-02. Ricoh claims that only DSLR and SLR are the path of samurai.

I imagine that while there are a few camera companies in Japan, there is understanding among the companies as to what features they can include in their cameras.

They aint going for the mirrorless market. they are DSLR and soon hopefully film cameras

The problem is that a Ricoh camera like that will also compete with Pentax. Which Ricoh want to avoid doing.
