Can the Canon EOS R8 be a USB-powered webcam?

I've not heard it confirmed if the R8 can do this, obviously it's not a headliner feature that the YouTubers would focus on. But I wondered if anyone knew if the R8 can be used as a webcam being completely powered by USB from the camera to the computer or if you would need a DC-coupler thingy to supply power?

If it’s like the R5, you will still need a battery with some charge left in the camera to use USB power. So it depends on how far you want to take ‘completely’

The manual isn’t available, so there isn’t a definitive answer on that yet.

The R8 can be powered, or charged, from its USB C connection port.

I have the R50. It uses the same battery as the R8. I started to do a time lapse with the R50 plugged into the mains via USB. When I went to check on it a few hours later, the battery was half-depleted, indicating that power was Not going to the camera. Turning the camera off, however did allow the usb powered mains to charge the battery. I'm not sure if this answers your question or not. The R8 may function differently.

Was the charger a proper USB-C PD charger? And if so, what is the wattage? On my R5 charging uses less power and voltage than powering it. It might be that your charger doesn't support the 9V/1A mode, but it does support the 5V/1.5A mode.

That assumes the R50 behaves the same as the R5, though.
