Re: An old pano

Thanks David the quick response.  That DP3 M work wonders in your hands.   I have not used the PTGui software for a few years, may have to take another look.

This is a home made sourdough loaf using home milled Spelt grain and shop bought organic strong white wheat flour. I added Linseed, Nigella seeds and olive oil. The rest is sea salt flakes and water. That's it. I thought it worthy of a bit of food photography. Shot with the dp0Q wide open using SFD.

Redo - from the vault
5

From December 2015.

The Glasshouse Mountains in Queensland. I came back to this image and had another crack at it. It was one of those shot that should never have be made using Auto WB -- the bane of the Merrill sensor. It looks better now.

Looks like an interesting area. These peaks looked volcanic to me, so I looked it up and they are.

Do you have any pix in better light?

It almost looks like 'the eye of Sauron' on that rightmost peak.

Yep, they certainly are, but it's been quite a while since there's been any volcanic activity in Australia. Although there are plenty of extinct ruins and they are some of the best locations to shoot. The Warrumbungles are another example of a massive volcanic crater. I visited them on the way home and did so again in 2021.

Nope. I was there with my mother and didn't want keep her waiting, otherwise I would have hung around...

It sure does.

I think you rescued it -- the colours look fine to me.

Auto WB is a menace. Best to leave the camera set to Daylight.

That's what I've been doing since my SD14 days. This was an oversight on my part.

… It is a magnificent image. Perfect weather with the clouds and mist. A “sunny day, blue skies” image would not be nearly as interesting.

… Thinking that this would be a good crop, with light vignette, and without the bright green patch on the bottom left.

True.

No. I consider the foreground too important to this image -- for a many reasons.
