By the Sea

I went for a nice walk by the sea today (The English Channel BTW).

The water was very "sparkly"

Birds Between Rainstorms
4

Last month I went out looking for birds between rainstorms. This is the time of year that I'll find lots of birds. It's also the time when we get lots of rain. So I have to pick my times to go and bring an umbrella.

Photo No. 1 - So this is what I was faced with...lots of clouds and some rain.

Photo No. 2 - At this moment it was raining too hard for me to bring out the large Tamron telephoto lens.

Photo No. 3 - The rain stopped enough now.  So I could zoom up closer to the Cormorant.

Photo No. 4 - We see this heron far away while it was raining.

Photo No. 5 - It got very dark with lots of rain.

Photo No. 6 - This female mallard duck didn't seem to mind.

Photo No. 7 - The male mallard duck is seen here.  The rain had stopped.

Photo No. 8 - The rain stopped so I could zoom up close to this American Coot.

Photo No. 9 - Again....

Photo No. 10 - With short days, the sunlight was getting less.  So it was time to go home.  I hope you liked seeing the birds and the rain.

That's beautiful with all of that sunshine.  I like the sparkly water and blue sky.

Wow...neat...excellent.  That's great when we get close enough to see the blue eye.

Good catch!!!  It's fascinating to watch and see what the wildlife may do sometimes.

Birds Between Rainstorms - Thanks

Thanks.  I like to show a few scenes like that, just to show what I'm brave enough to do, when going out to take pictures of birds in the rain.   These newer cameras have no problems taking them in such conditions (if we don't mind getting a little wet).   I bring at least one soft cloth with me to wipe off the sprinkles.

A few recents

Looks like spring is right around the corner in my neck of the woods and have noticed the critters moving around a bit more. One of them flying is artificial though.

Ah, it does look like spring. We have another 4 weeks or so before we get any spring-like weather. What's the ID of the red bird?  Is that a Northern Cardinal?
