We hope you have fun making wonderful images this month!

Stay safe and well…

Please reply to this post with your own post - but amend the post [Title] to reflect your subject(s). If you want to say something about your image/ movie, that will be welcome.

Remember, you don't have to only post images you took this month - sometimes people don't get around to processing images immediately after they shoot them.

Commenting on other people’s images is encouraged! If you post an image, please try to comment on other posts as it keeps everyone interested and coming back.

(We’ll aim to provide some feedback - but we are away for part of each month and busy with ‘life stuff’. The lack of a comment from us is not a sign of disfavour!).

Finally, please post in accordance with DPReview Community Guidelines.

Thank you!

Images from Somewhere (Else)…
12

Images from a recent-ish (pre-Christmas) stay in The Peak District, Derbyshire, England.

Shot raw, processed - and occasionally fiddled with (sometimes seriously).

(S/w: DxO PhotoLab/ Nik Collection, Lr Classic, Photoshop, Topaz DeNoise AI/ Studio 2).

Ascending Mam Tor - the forecast ‘sunny and clear day’ lasted for around an hour…

It’s the sun!

We do it for the expansive views…

The descent into Castleton was down a steep frozen stream, which was scary - but fun…

The Christmas Tree Event in Castleton Church - very festive (and cosy warm)…

Just when you think you’ve seen it all, you come across a man dressed as a gorilla who has just ridden down the icy (Category 3) Winnats Pass in a snow storm on a BMX cycle with no brakes - BACKWARDS… 😮 👀 🤷🏻‍♂️ (Now, that's what we call a hard act to follow ).

What an impressive amount of detail you can capture with this camera.  The image with the shadowed valley in the foreground and sunlight in the background is my favourite.

Technical correction: Its a Bigfoot suite.  I zoomed in to read the knuckle tats.

Hi CompleteUtterNonsense,

Cheers - appreciated! (The distant, tantalising, sunlight was gazed upon with envy ).

And well spotted! - We'll let you into a little secret about Bigfoot (but don't tell anyone)...

Hi AC,

Cheers - appreciated!

With the ‘clear day’ forecast firmly in our mind, it was a real surprise to turn round (don’t forget to look behind you) and catch this sight. Not sure I did it full justice, but well worth having a crack. Within 30 minutes we were in thick clag with visibility less than 100 metres.

An interesting two days for light and atmospherics (and gorillas... ).

Great set with some dramatic weather especially the top one with the clouds rolling over the hills like a wave. The gorilla dude was pretty cool, wouldnt mind trying backwards downhill biking myself one day!

Hi barnyz,

Cheers - appreciated!

The local weather was on great form that weekend (if well off the forecast - we walked round the campsite as heavy snow fell on the evening of the second 'dry and clear' day).

We were shown the footage of the descent - it was quite a spectacle of skill and daring.

(That gorilla can really ride!! ).

Eye-Control Effectiveness; "Lazy" Post-processing
1

Being a touch lazy here, SOOC JPG > RawTherapee with Auto levels... Not bad for auto-magic workflow.

Just demonstrating how easy eye-control AF works. Oh, and use that subject tracking override (M.Fn2 when set to AF override) so the camera doesn't grab a person, instead. Note, >2 seconds in between which were more my choice of preferred target, rather than how long it takes.
