This is the weekly Show Your Snaps thread where we invite you to show your own snapshots or even choice pictures. I'll be sure to comment about your photos, if you choose to share.

When you are posting your own images please submit them as a reply to this post. Otherwise your pictures may be overlooked. You might also consider describing your pictures in the subject title. See my own photos for this week as a reply.

Remember it's all about the enjoyment of taking pictures regardless of what we have. We can learn from each other and it's fun to share too. Thanks everyone for your participation.

This is open to all camera systems and skill levels.

Dramatic Sky
3

As much as I (and we) may complain about the winter cold, clouds, snow and rain, there can be photo opportunities that we might not otherwise see. I was in the car and I saw this dramatic sky.  I was able to capture it through the windshield before it faded away. I hope you like....

Re: Dramatic Sky

The “radiating” shapes of the lit cloud formations are wonderful!

I like them all, but like the this composition the best:

Excellent dramatic skies Digi.

#3 is my favourite.

Butterfly farm
2

I visited a butterfly farm today... it was a first for me. Great fun.

If I can remember that butterfly's name, it'll be in the description bar.

Butterflies feeding on fruit

Blue Morpho

Great Mormon

Monarch. I guess this one must be a familiar sight to at least some of you over on the other side of the Atlantic.

This one had partly-transparent wings!

Blue Morpho

The Blue Morpho is much bigger than any of our british butterflies... seeing them flying about was vaguely like watching very-slow small birds.

This is my favourite shot:

The Paper Kite

I hope you enjoyed the pics. I certainly had fun seeing the butterflies.

Dramatic Sky - Thanks

Thanks.  The radiating shapes may be rain falling that is affected by the wind, but I'm not sure.  Anyway, that's my guess.

Dramatic Sky - Thanks

Thanks.  Thanks for letting me know your favorite too.  What is seen in the lowest part of the image with the clear sky is near our Coast Ranges.

Re: Storm Brewing

Cool...that reminds me when I took a picture of a church steeple with a bird flying around on a cloudy day once, It looked like a sign from heaven. All you need is lightning.

Re: Butterfly farm

Oh that's neat that you were at a butterfly farm.  I've never heard of one where I live.  Butterflies (like birds in flight) are the hardest for me to photograph because I have to have patience.   You got a nice variety of different types.

Dunlin’s beautiful “Butterfly Farm” series reminded me of this one of mine:

That's a new one for me too. The red stands out with the white background; it's very minimalistic.

Thanks.

These butterflies were pretty tame. They were flying all over the place.

Actually, the main limitation was the lens's minimum focusing distance. And, with those big, tropical butterflies I didn't need a macro lens (which is good, as I don't actually have one!).

Re: Dramatic Sky

Hi Digirame,

Those are Strange, dramatic skies. I've not seen clouds quiet like that before. Stunning.
