Q:DSLR Live view and Samsung Galaxy tab (active4 pro)?

Hi,

(HOW) can a Samsung Galaxy tab (active4 pro) connected and used AS A LIVE VIEW MONITOR for a (Nikon D850) DSLR WHILE PHOTOGRAPHING NOT VIDEO?

If it is possible, what are the advised DSLR (Nikon D850) settings and Samsung Galaxy tab (active4 pro) settings and software?

Kind regards,

Not sure if you've solved your problem but I managed to do this with a Canon 7D2, maybe the same would work with your Nikon.

On the Canon 7D2 it has an HDMi output which is active when in Live view - i.e you're using the rear LCD screen to see the image, either still or video.

I connect an HDMI to USB Video Capture dongle like this one  to the HDMI output.  Then take the USB output from the dongle to the smartphone.  You can get an app that works with a USB camera.  I use one called Elementary USB Camera and it works just fine.

Hope this helps

  1. Check your camera's compatibility: Ensure that your Nikon D850 DSLR camera is compatible with remote shooting, has a built-in Wi-Fi feature, or is paired with a wireless transmitter.
  2. Install the Nikon Wireless Mobile Utility app: Download and install the Nikon Wireless Mobile Utility app on your Samsung Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro.
  3. Enable Wi-Fi on the camera: Turn on the Wi-Fi feature on your Nikon D850 DSLR camera.
  4. Connect the camera to the tablet: Using the Wi-Fi settings on your Samsung Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro, connect to the Wi-Fi network created by your camera.
  5. Launch the Nikon Wireless Mobile Utility app: Launch the Nikon Wireless Mobile Utility app on your Samsung Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro.
  6. Configure the camera settings: Set up your camera settings for remote shooting through the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro app. You can control the aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and focus through the app.
  7. Start Live View: Once the camera and tablet are connected, tap the Live View button in the app to start the live view.

Your Samsung Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro is now connected and ready to be used as a live-view monitor for your Nikon D850 DSLR camera.

Thank you
