Talk me out of a M6II

Own an R, 6D and M5 bodies, but pining for an M6II as the dedicated body for the M32/1.4 lens. Talk my out of buying one.

I really like how I can have my middle finger on the focus ring, trigger finger on the shutter button ready to quickly move to the m-fn button that is programmed to magnify and thumb on the AF-on button that is programmed to turn manual focus on !

Can so quickly go from auto focus to manual focus and back !

So fast that I am not that interested in cameras that do not fit my hands so nicely !

Or a camera that won't mount my favorite lens the EF-M 32mm STM.

It's a dead end system. Too bad as it is a nice set up. But why buy into a dead system.  Get an R7/10 instead.

That said, I'll use my M6II until it dies.

OP wants a body to mount behind an EF-M 32mm lens ?

How could a R10 or R7 satisfy that desire ?

Equivalence is fun banter on forums ?

In reality not ?

The EF-M 32mm STM can deliver the L lens popin colors ?

The only Canon crop lens that can do that ?

Why do you think we like it so much ?

Sorry, I can't do that...

I talked myself out of buying one for three years, telling myself that my M5 was "good enough". Then, after Christmas, I stopped at my local camera store, and there it was... the last new M6II kit (body, 15-45, and EVF) they had, on final clearance, for CA$650 (less than half it's original price)! I snapped it up without hesitation. At that price, it was a no brainer!

The AF is so much better than that of the M5 (especially in low light), and you get FV mode, minimum shutter speed, silent electronic shutter, 4K video, and the 32.5 MP sensor. My M5 has now been relegated to back-up duty.

Just buy one already, while you still can. You won't regret it.

Now I just need to find a good deal on the M32/1.4... One day...

In reality not ?

I think both full frame lenses are examples of what's missing in the full frame RF lens line up. Personally I wouldn't buy into a dead system anymore just for that 32mm. And I also think - except maybe for Fuji - the aps-c sensor size is sunsetting.

MPB is my camera store now and they will have M cameras and lenses for a long time ?

They test them before they send them out.

Sure can not say the same about Canon.

Look, if you own that 32mm lens and you can find that M6II at a great deal it could be worth it for that lens alone. But if you're desiring a more complete system than a great 50mm (equivalent) alone I would look elsewhere.

it is interesting that I wanted, but never bought, the old EF 50 f1.2 which had fringing, and you had to stop down to f2 to be sharp.

Instead,  for about the same dollars as the EF 50 f1.2, I got an m6II body and a sharp across the frame wide open m32 f1.4

+1. 🤣  It is impossible to mount an EF-M 32mm on these bodies. The M6 II is the best body for that lens.
