I haven't jumped ship, but ...

I'm not giving up my M cameras (I love the lightness of them). But I have just purchased a Fuji X-T5 with a 16-80 lens.

I looked long and hard at the Canon R7 & R10 cameras but I wasn't impressed. Too many oddities and not enough APS-C lenses.

Did you mean to say,

I'm not giving up my M cameras (I love the lightness of them) and I have just purchased a Fuji X-T5 with a 16-80 lens ?

I don't understand your use of the word but in the second sentence.

Interested to hear how you get on. I'm sure the XT-5 is a blindingly good camera. I recently bought an X100F and am still finding the Fuji experience not as satisfying as Canon.

The part before the but is the trying to be nice part and the part after the but is the hard reality ?

The I love the lightness of them in the first sentence kinda indicates the 2 systems complement each other thus the and question ?

Congrats on your new camera!

Coming from Canon, the Fuji control methodology will probably feel like the polar opposite.  With a little practice, I'm sure you'll acclimate quickly.

looks like a good combo and you saved $300 on an $800 lens - nice!

I love 24-105 range

consider getting siggy 56 f1.4 with that IBIS; also siggy 30 f1.4

best wishes

depends on how long you were with canon ..the fuji control method is just about a copy of the Canon A1 film camera...

Re: I haven't jumped ship, but ...

Nice. I'm quite happy with my little M5 and a handful of lenses, but I have been tempted for the last couple of years to dip my toes into Fuji. Partly the aesthetic, and partly the film simulations. But then I realise, my M5 and 22mm is quite a competitive combination compared to one of the older the X100 series I keep looking at.
TBH. If the M mount dies of death and I decide to sell my camera and lenses in the future, I may still get something like an X100 and a compact 1 inch sensor superzoom. Although, by then, I reckon smartphone cameras will be even better.

Wex in the UK has the X-T5 kitted with the 16-80mm f/4.0 for £2,149.  Alan Sh likely paid less than that.

Hi all,

I don't understand what was wrong with my first post.

I had a Caonon AE1 in the 'old days'. So Fuji knobs are not a complete unknown. Yes, I wanted the film simulation and IBIS - Fuji seemed like a good choice and, so far, I don't regret it.

The kit is actually being replaced later this week ad the lens ($800!!!) is quite soft on the outside - worse than my 15-45 M lens. I am hoping that's just an aberration and will be fixed with another lens.

No, that is what I paid - from Wex in Leeds - but I part-ex'ed my Canon 6D and some lenses, so the end result is a lot cheaper.

For comparison, a bare body R6 is £1,999 and the R6 II is £2,779 on the same site. The R6 II kitted with the 24-105mm L is £3,999.  The R6 kits are at least 50% more expensive thst the X-T5 kits.

£2,149 is a lot less than the £3,999 cost of a R6 II kit with 24-105mm L.  The Fuji kit also weighs nearly 400 grams less.

The Canon does appear to have the better button and dial layout for sure !
