Shout-out to Canon EL-100 Flash and Neewer Diffuser (good match for M's)

Just want to give a shout-out to the Canon EL-100 flash (~$149 US) which pairs nicely with Canon M-Series cameras in terms of combined capability and compactness - per Canon:

* Compact, Versatile and Easy-to-Use Speedlite.
     * Horizontal and Upward Bounce Rotation Capability.
     * Maximum Guide Number of Approx. 85 ft./26m at ISO 100.
     * 24mm Wide-angle Coverage.
     * Optical Wireless Flash Function (Sender and Receiver).
     * Flash Exposure Control Including Support for Stroboscopic Flash and Continuous Shooting.

Previously had the Canon 270EX II flash, but it's swivel capability was very constrained (just up) and you couldn't attach a flash card - all solved with the EL-100 using the same convenient 2xAA batteries (which last surprisingly long if using good rechargeables).

And while I'm at it, here's a shout-out to the Neewer double-sided flash diffuser (~$10 US) - inexpensive, super compact and pairs beautifully with the EL-100 flash.

Just 2 quick tips for the Neewer (sold under various brand names too) flash diffuser on the EL-100 flash:

1. The silver side is of little use - paint it black with a large felt marker and it looks less conspicuous

2. There are elastic straps on each side, but they are a bit loose on the EL-100's compact size. An easy 5-second solution is to use 2 paper clips - pull the strap on the white side and wrap it over the edge onto the other side, then use one paper clip from the bottom and another slid down from the top to pin the folded over strap to the strap on the other side (this will make sense when you have it on-hand). Now much more snug and adds a tiny bit of curvature to the white diffuser in a good way

Alternatively save ten bucks and use a piece of white card and an elastic band .
