Actually, me too.

In a way, it's an interesting subject, my desire to buy something that I don't really need. If the product never existed, I could go on very well with my life, quite happily, but as it is, the camera does exist, and I really want to one.

The images that Gordon Laing put out yesterday (?), they are really nice.

I have reasons.

Unlimited record time means I can replace our camcorder from 2008 as well as my RP.  We’ve always recorded the family Christmas uninterrupted.  Camera off in the corner.  30 minute time limits kept me from using existing cameras because I wouldn’t be fully engaged.

Higher frame rate and much improved AF for my kids sports.

Environmental sealing with more hiking trips planned.  I sweated all over my RP and had to send it in for repairs last year.  My CarePak is about to run out though and repairs would have cost $600.  Fortunately it was covered.

Justified gas.

I have reasons too. I am 61 and I want one. If I am not going to allow myself a little fun now, then when ?

Okay. Probably closer to my reasons too.  But I’m only 50.  😁

If you can do it, then I fully agree do it now.  I'm 72 and I recently moved from Nikon to Canon...first the R5, then the R7 and now I have an R10 coming in tomorrow.  You hit a certain age and it doesn't make sense to wait to see what might come out later this year or next.  I do a lot of bird photography and all 3 of these cameras will work for that.  If I was more landscape oriented I probably would have bought the R6II, looks like a nice unit.  Enjoy your gas while you still can, and above all have fun!

I'd really like to offer the GAS treatment to you guys, but it really is an excellent camera. I also bought a Pixma Pro-200 together and supply the family with photos. My wife prefers not to say anything anymore.

Will you use the RF 35mm f/1.8 stm fot this?

Higher frame rate and much improved AF for my kids sports.

To get better AF is huge.  Less noise at higher ISO levels might be nice as well.  More dials. More DR never hurts.

Environmental sealing with more hiking trips planned. I sweated all over my RP and had to send it in for repairs last year. My CarePak is about to run out though and repairs would have cost $600. Fortunately it was covered.

I’m not sure Mrs JustUs7 is quite convinced yet, but I have to say, you good people are making a lot of sense to me!

But - I’m getting eye rolls and a smirk and not just eye rolls - so that’s a good sign, right?

Got it today around noon. I see, the 40mm pancake and the adapter, on the R6 is going to be an easy to carry system. Just what I like. To really test out the camera I will probably be mostly using my other, better, lenses, but long term, this setup (with the 40mm) probably will become one of my favorites.

Just do what I do, don't tell her. While supportive, she could not care less about my hobby. How does she always know when I get a new one. Same shape, colour and size. I can't figure it out.

Here's to add fire to your GAS:

The R6Mii detects subject intelligently. You don't need to switch from people to vehicles to animals, that camera does it for you, quite flawlessly.

AI Focus works well with auto subject selection.

Heard of pre-capture? It's a feature that's been in some mobile phones for quite some time now. The R6Mii has it.

Like the R7, it shows the focal length at which you are shooting on your EVF or display at live view, which I find really helpful when using my EF100-400mm Mark II.

Don't even want to get you started on videos.

I’ve read about that   Sounds very cool.  Also Face Priority, which means it won’t refocus when video shooting if a face leaves the screen temporarily then comes back   No unnecessary jumping around.

First introduced with the EOS M6II.  My wife’s camera has it.  Frankly I’m surprised all the R cameras after that didn’t have it.

As I said up thread.  It’s the first one that can truly replace our old camcorder based on how we’ve used that in the past.  Cool stuff!

The R7 has it too. I've never tried it on my M6II, but I've used it a bit on the R7. The M6II version uses an 18MP crop, but the R7 version is the whole frame. It saves the whole burst in one file, but it's actually very easy to pull out individual RAW files from the burst. I like to do that in camera, and then just delete the big file and only keep the shots that I want to save.
