Re: It's not Spring just yet!!!

Hi Digirame,

It is native to Africa south of the Sahara and the Nile Valley.

It was introduced into the UK as an ornamental wildfowl species and has escaped into the wild, now successfully breeding in a feral state.

This past Saturday I was out walking and taking pictures during a partly cloudy day. We had a few sprinkles, but other than that it wasn't too bad. Here's a combination I thought was pretty neat.

Photo No. 1 - Little dog.... The dog stopped and temporarily blocked my way.

Photo No. 2 - Big dog.... This is a Great Dane. The owner was trying to encourage it to move. It was enormous. I had to get a picture of it.

Lol, my neighbor has a pair of Danes thankfully they stay in their yard. I would not want to feed them and definitely not clean up after them. Nice shots.

Please send some sun
1

Hi all still shooting, but dont think I have seen the sun since before Christmas, and the weather being all over the place has pretty much made duck migration in my area pretty much non existent. Luckily eagle mating and nesting season is peaking and I am starting to see something other then seagulls. As far as the r7 goes I love that I can keep my extender mounted even in dark days. I wouldn't consider using  the extender on the 80 or 90D being as dark as it has been.

Little Dog Big Dog - Thanks

Thanks.  It was important for me to have a person next to the Great Dane to appreciate how big they are.  The woman was little taller than average too, probably about 5 foot 7 inches to 5 foot 9 inches in height.

Re: Please send some sun

Your bird photos are spectacular.  I especially like seeing your bald eagles.  I don't see them very much where I live.  I'll have to go back to the zoo.   They have some there.  One was missing an eye.  The zoo had at least one of those there in captivity because of injuries.

Re: Please send some sun

Thank you both, the Eagle with the nesting material, if you look closely you can see the snow flakes around it and the snow still on the branch when she ripped it off the tree. I wish I could have captured that moment. She was across the lake from me, dove at the tree and in a single motion ripped the limb free. As she flew above me I hoped she didnt throw it at me. It was quite large. Lol

Today's Heron

Today I was out looking for wildlife.  It was a good day for "hunting".  I found lots of opportunities.  Here's one of them.

Today's Heron - Thanks

Thanks.  I was lucky the heron was so close.  It was cloudy with some light sprinkles.  I thought I was going to have to stop, but the rain ended so I could take lots of pictures.  I tried hard to keep the camera/lens steady.  Some of them were a little soft, but most of them were sharp.

Today's Heron - Thanks

Thanks.  I was at the right place at the right time.  I was fortunate that the sprinkles stopped.  I had a small umbrella to keep me dry, but I can't use the large Tamron lens (without getting it wet) unless I have a much larger umbrella.

It's a foggy day today. Buildings just sort of peek from the foggy mist.

Done in B&W.

I think I used center-weighted average metering on this one.

Re: It's not Spring just yet!!!

Hi Rocket, Thank You.

With the Mandarins I'm lucky enough to be close to the area they call home so at this time of year they hang around here. When spring comes they'll spread out along the rivers and canals etc. to breed.

Oh yeah...that's good to show pictures of fog when you can see some of the surroundings and buildings.  We have some days like that, but fortunately most of the time it burns off by afternoon.
