Extracting embedded jpegs from RAW files AND alternative batch renaming on Android
2 months ago
I've been using the dlpo and instanfjepgfromraw utilities for the best part of a decade on my PC and Windows tablet but I'm looking for an Android alternative so I don't have to take my tablet away with me - I mainly use the tablet to extract the jpegs, batch rename and back them up to external drives, but if I could do that with my phone it would be great.
I know it's a bit of a niche topic as most people are happy to wait till they get home, but all being well, I'll be away for a few months and I dont want to have to mess around converting all my RAW files on the road - I normally extract the embedded jpegs and those are what I use while I'm away (to send to friends and maybe post on facebook) and then backup the RAW files for future use.
Is there an Android app that can extract the jpegs from my RW2 RAW files?
When it comes to renaming my photo's, I've not found anything as light or simple as dlpro. It groups all the files by date taken and then I can just select the dates that I was in a certain location and set a "job code", eg NYC and then let it do it's thing, depending on how I had it set to output, but it's normally, year-month-day_job code_4 digit number.RW2. For example.
2023-10-20_NYC_0004.RW2 where 0004 represents it being the 4th image shot that day.
If I have my second body with me there's also the option to include the camera it was taken with, GX80 or GX800.
Is there an Android app that would allow me to do something similar?
In the meantime I'll have a go at hooking up my external hard drive to my phone via a powered hub (the same setup I use with the windows tablet) to see if it will work with that (I've managed it in the past with previous Android handsets.
