I have just gotten myself a Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 G1 lens for canon EF mount. Its an old lens, but i managed to get myself a new copy from a local camera store.
Posting here to see if my copy is faulty - or is it the lens - i'm guessing the lens simply doesnt work with tamron lenses.
when i attach the Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 lens to my Canon R6 mark ii (with canon adaptor), the ibis simply doesnt work. And worst, it causes the IBIS to constantly shaking, making video shooting almost impossible (unless i turn off the IBIS altogether).
as of today, i tested the R6 mark ii on several 3rd party lenses:
Yongnuo 35mm f2 - IBIS does not work at all (both photo and video).
Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 G1 - IBIS does not work at all in video mode - causes the sensor to not stop moving around, even when it is not recording.
Sigma 20mm f1.8 DG - IBIS works like a charm.
Canon 50mm f1.4 USM - IBIS works like a charm. lovin it.
I wonder if anyone else is experiencing similar issues with other 3rd party lenses. maybe we can gather 3rd party lenses that does and doesnt work with the R6 ibis here.
I too have a Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 XD Di (This is an old lens model from the early noughties). I prefer not to use this lens on the RF system and instead, it spends most of its time on my OG 6D
On my R6 II:
-The IBIS works as expected in video, there is no jumpiness
-The autofocus in stills mode (Servo) causes the lenses to keep pulsing in and out of focus, as though it relied on some contrast based detection method. It is close to impossible to get any photo in focus
Other tamron lenses tested:
-70-210 F4 VC: works perfectly
-70-300mm VC: can get lost if focus distance is too far from target, less reliable than 70-210
On EOS RP:
Tamron 28-75 kind of works, it could get a misfocused shot maybe 1/5 times. There is no AF pulsing but I would not rely on the lens
