Show Your Snaps...January 16, 2023

This is the weekly Show Your Snaps thread where we invite you to show your own snapshots or even choice pictures. I'll be sure to comment about your photos, if you choose to share.

When you are posting your own images please submit them as a reply to this post. Otherwise your pictures may be overlooked. You might also consider describing your pictures in the subject title. See my own photos for this week as a reply.

Remember it's all about the enjoyment of taking pictures regardless of what we have. We can learn from each other and it's fun to share too. Thanks everyone for your participation.

This is open to all camera systems and skill levels.

A little note: I realized I missed starting last week's snaps thread a few days after last Monday, but I decided to not start another one until now.

So here we are after two weeks.

Last December I found a red robin that stayed still just long enough for me to capture it. I hope you like....

Re: Haven’t been here regularly for more than a year…

… but I had a good reason. It had to end that way with muscular dystrophy (the adult form). May Marie rest in peace. This is the best photo I took of her taken with my faithful Canon PowerShot A70 in 2003 in one of the nicest parks in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. This park is very well known for wedding photography in Montreal.

Marie, 1965-2023.

I'm so sorry for your loss.  Thanks for sharing with us the photo of Marie.  May she find peace on the other side, free from any illness or suffering.

I figured that you were having a tough time.  It's always good to hear from you and see your pictures.

Re: Wood Duck Drinking

Nice!  That's a great one of a wood duck.  A confession:  The reason I only showed one picture this time (of the red robin), is I wanted to get outside today.  We got a break in the weather, so I was out taking pictures of wood ducks too.  But they were all taken late in the afternoon with shadows under cloudy skies.  So I didn't get the brilliant colors that you got.

Re: White-breasted Nuthatch with Grain

That's a really nice photo of the Nuthatch with that background.  This past Saturday I got a photo of a squirrel on a tree with a smooth background also like that on the right side.

Wood Ducks Under Cloudy Skies
2

The rain stopped long enough today, for me to consider going outside. I went looking for the wood ducks. But before I could get close enough, a lot of clouds came in and the sun began to set. Thank goodness I can take pictures at ISO6400.  It becomes really neat to be able to take pictures of these birds in semi-darkness.

Great photo Digramme!

Your American robins are (apparently) much larger than our little European robins.

Red Robin - Thanks

Thanks.  I find them often at the ground level looking for things like worms.

Parc Raimbault — thank you for giving me a hint on a new park to visit when the weather gets warmer.

The “wood duck” photo above was captured at Parc Bernard-Landry in Laval, on the other side of the Prairies River.

Two shots from Park Raimbault, one winter, one summer. This is kind of like the bride of love. My wedding photos were not taken there because there was a timing issue but usually, couples will go there before church.

Re: Haven’t been here regularly for more than a year…

That's a nice contrast between two seasons.  It would be neat to take photos of a scene with all four seasons.  I keep thinking of doing something like that, but I forget to do it.
