Movie optimized control // Possible to open movie settings menu with a button?

Hi

I am only an occasional video shooter. Lacking an external monitor and a gimbal, I sometimes like to shoot through the viewfinder. This way, I can fully focus on the captured scene.

I also like the movie optimized control a lot, because it keeps stills and video settings separate, and enables me to switch between stills and video just by switching the Still/Movie lever. I do not need to adjust aperture, ISO, ss when switching.

When the movie optimized control is activated, to access the movie settings menu, one has to hit on "SET" on the LCD touchscreen. Once the menu is open, it can easily be operated with the focus lever (joystick). That's of course also possible while looking through the viewfinder.

Now comes my question.

Is there a way to open the movie menu without hitting the LCD touchscreen? While looking through the viewfinder, without taking the camera off from the eye?

Camera is X-T4, just in case that matters.

Can I open this menu with a button, while looking through the viewfinder, without taking the camera off from my eye?

Regards,

Martin

Tried for it but couldn't spot anything – on a T30.2  Did you hang the question mainly because its activation by touchscreen works a bit tap and miss? It's almost too easy to swipe up another touch Fn-button's menu when you do that. Or maybe you'd prefer to deactivate those altogether.

Thanks Yawlen. No just wanted to be faster, not needing to take the camera off from my eye. Not a huge problem, though. Just wanted to know whether I overlooked something obvious.

Cheers Martin

..hmm OK, but it can be done with an eye to the EVF, no? If you don't press a nose to the screen's left side. I did check for that.

... and positive on doublecheck: You do have at least a right half of the touchscreen active for its viewfinder modus operandi?

i don't have a X-T4 to try, but with X-H2S with movie control activated you can change F/SS/ISO, etc. via Q button

may be it's the same

Thank you. So I tried with my X-T4. You can assign ISO and ss to the Q menu. Not the aperture. But at least it is an option.

To answer my own question, I haven't found a way to open the movie controls of the X-T4 with a button while looking through the viewfinder. While I can operate the menu with the joystick once the menu is open (on both viewfinder and LCD screen), to open the menu I need to take the camera off from my eye and hit "SET" on the LCD screen. The X-H2S may be different.

But it is not my biggest problem. I can also live with taking the camera off from my eye and pressing SET on the screen. Then I can make my choices with the focus lever while looking through the viewfinder.

The image below shows my current movie Q menu.

Martin
